1. Introduction
1.1. General
All systems that are delivered to the costumer are fully tested according the rules and
regulations applicable. During these tests, all components are set for optimal
performance of the rescue boat.
For a safe operation of the Rescue boat, the operator(s) need to be fully aware of the
equipment controls and how to operate these. Therefore we will insist to read this
manual and the supplemental manuals before un-packing, installing and starting up the
rescue boat.
Follow every instruction in this handbook. This will prevent for possible accidents and the
periodic maintenance will assure a long working life. Incorrect maintenance results in
warranty loss. For maintenance purposes we recommended the customers to have a 1
year service package present. For details, please refer to chapter 9.
1.2. Introduction
All PALFINGER BOATS rescue and fast rescue boats are designed according to the
standards which have been recorded by the different classification bureaus. This means
that all our boats meet the requirements which are necessary for recovery of persons
who have accidently fallen overboard.
A rescue boat is carried for the protection of everyone on board. However it can only
fulfill its task, if the assigned persons on board are acquainted with the whole rescue
boat, its functions and operations. Only permanent practice gives confidence to the
rescue boat and prevents mistakes of handling in case of danger.
1.2.1. Construction RSQ 450 A
The RSQ 450 A rescue boat is a rigid rescue boat, made 5083H111 grade aluminium. The
hull of the RSQ 450 A rescue boat is a so-

It has been designed especially to rescue people in distress as well as to marshal life
rafts. The rescue boat is capable of carrying at least 5 seated persons and 1 person
laying on a stretcher.
