MOUNTING LOCATION
Qualified service personnel should install the ATS 5070 series
meeting all applicable codes and standards.
The ATS 5070 series may be mounted in any position, leaving room for
routing shoreline, generator and load conductors. To minimize voltage
drop in the wiring the transfer switch should be located as close to the
generator and shoreline cord entrance as practical.
DO NOT mount the ATS 5070 series in the generator compartment.
The ATS 5070 series is not ignition protected, and therefore should not
be mounted in the same compartment as batteries or flammable materials
such as gasoline. It may be mounted in the cabin or living area or a
basement compartment, but is not suitable for outside locations.

Overview

The Parallax Power Supply Model ATS 5070 Series is an automatic Line/Generator RV transfer switch designed to provide seamless power transfer for recreational vehicles. This device automatically switches 120 or 240-volt appliances to generator power when the generator is activated, eliminating the need for manual cord changes.

Function Description

The primary function of the ATS 5070 series is to manage the power source for an RV's AC appliances. When connected to shoreline power, the unit automatically routes power from the shore to the appliances. When the onboard generator is started, the ATS 5070 detects the generator's output and, after a brief stabilization delay (approximately 20 seconds), transfers the load from the shoreline to the generator. This automated process ensures continuous power supply without user intervention.

The device also features auxiliary contacts, which can be used to control other equipment within the vehicle. These contacts are "dry contacts," meaning they are not energized and provide a switching function for external loads as the ATS 5070 switches between shore power and generator. This allows for integrated control of various RV systems based on the active power source.
