RE-INSTALLING PINIONS IN MANUAL
SWEEPERS
If pinions are removed for any reason, carefully follow the
steps below to reassemble. All parts must be clean
before reassembling.
1. Insert a wood dowel 5/8" diameter x 2" long for
reassembly into the pinion (figure 6).
NOTE: Each pinion is different as indicated by the part
number and must be assembled to the correct side of
shaft.
2. Identify the pinion part number and insert the metal
rollers. Place the plastic tube in the cavity between
the metal roller and the wall of the cavity (figure 7).
It may be necessary to apply force to the plastic
tubes. Tubes are resilient and should fit tightly.
NOTE: The left and right side are determined from the
Operator’s position.
3. Assemble pinion part no. P74-79-BL to the left side
of shaft and pinion part no. P74-78-BR to the right
side (figure 7).
4. Push the pinion onto the shaft which will force the
dowel out of the pinion leaving the rollers and
plastic tubes in position (figure 8).
5. Apply a coating of grease on the outside of the
wheel gear teeth. Do not grease the inside pinion or
pawl springs will be ineffective.
