Overview

This document describes the Parkmate CMD-14N, a wide-angle reverse camera designed for vehicle use. It provides detailed information on its function, technical specifications, installation, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Parkmate CMD-14N is a reverse camera that provides a wide-angle view with grid-lines and a flip image function, enhancing safety and convenience when reversing a vehicle. It is designed to assist drivers by providing a visual aid of the area behind the vehicle, which can help prevent accidents and make parking easier. The camera can be installed as either a rear-view camera or a front-view camera, offering flexibility based on user preference. When used as a rear-view camera, it displays grid-lines to assist with parking. For front-view applications, the grid-lines can be cut to remove them, and the mirror image can be flipped to provide a normal view.

Wiring Diagram: The camera features a simple wiring setup. The red wire connects to the reversing light for power, and the black wire connects to ground. The video output is connected to a monitor for display. A switching wire is included, which, when cut, removes the grid-lines and flips the image, allowing for front-view camera applications.

Usage Features

Installation Options: The CMD-14N offers two primary installation methods:

  1. Butterfly Mount: This method involves selecting a flat and centered location near the number plate lamp at the rear of the vehicle. The camera is attached using 3M tape, and a small hole is drilled for the camera wire. The camera's angle can be adjusted upwards or downwards using an arrow screw. This mount is suggested for locations that transmit the image behind the bumper and area behind the vehicle.

  2. Flush Mount: This method provides a more integrated look. It requires unscrewing the upper part of the camera, detaching the upper part and bracket, and placing the bumper adaptor instead. A 16.5mm hole saw is used to drill a hole in the bumper, and the camera is then inserted and secured. The camera's angle can also be adjusted.

Image Features:

  • Grid-lines: The camera displays parking grid-lines by default when used as a rear-view camera. These lines assist the driver in judging distance and positioning the vehicle.
  • Flip Image: The camera has a flip image function. By default, it provides a mirror image suitable for rear-view applications. If the green wire (switching wire) is cut, the image will flip to a normal view, making it suitable for front-view applications.
  • Wide Angle: The 170° diagonal angle provides a broad view of the area behind the vehicle, minimizing blind spots.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides solutions for common issues:

  • "No Signal" appears while reversing: Check video input connections.
  • No power: Check camera power connections.
  • Video image is not sharp: Check camera lens for debris.

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance:

  • Cleanliness: Always keep the camera clear from dirt and mud. Clean the camera with a soft moist cloth.
  • Waterproof: The camera has an IP67 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected against dust and water immersion, reducing the need for specific waterproofing maintenance. However, it is crucial to ensure that the waterproof seal is not disassembled or compromised during installation.

Warranty Information: Parkmate offers a warranty on its products, ensuring that the CMD-14N is free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. If a defect occurs within this period, Parkmate will repair, replace, or refund the product at its discretion. The warranty is valid only when the product has been used in accordance with the recommendations and instructions provided by Directed Electronics. The warranty excludes defects resulting from alterations, accidents, misuse, abuse, or neglect.

Important Notes for Maintenance:

  • Do not disassemble the camera or cut the camera cable as this voids the warranty.
  • Disassembling the camera will compromise the waterproof seal.
  • Do not remove the Directed warranty sticker as this voids warranty.

This comprehensive description covers the key aspects of the Parkmate CMD-14N, making it easier for users to understand, install, and maintain their device.
