Overview

This document provides assembly instructions for the Electra 3000 A knitting machine, detailing its setup, attachment to various stands, and the installation of accessories. The Electra 3000 A is a knitting machine designed for domestic use, capable of producing knitted fabrics.

Function Description:

The Electra 3000 A is a versatile knitting machine that can be fitted to different stands and integrated with various accessories to enhance its functionality. It supports both single bed and double bed knitting, depending on the configuration and accessories used. The machine features a racking mechanism, allowing for pattern adjustments and shaping of knitted items. It can be operated with different cam boxes and is compatible with two-colour changers for more complex patterns. The core function involves the movement of the cam box along the needle bed to create stitches, controlled either manually or with the aid of a foot controller.

Important Technical Specifications:

The Electra 3000 A is designed to be fitted to several types of stands:

  • Stand-63 (RT-63): This stand requires specific angular brackets (art.no. 12.535.13) and fixing plates (art.no. 12.991.02), secured with cylinder screws (M 4x12) and spring washers (M 4). The machine is placed on the stand and fixed with two clamps, then pulled towards the user. The racking handle is inserted, set to 0, and pushed down.
  • Stand-80 (RT-80): This stand requires angle plates (art.no. 12.536.02) and angular brackets (art.no. 12.535.13), along with cylinder screws (M 4x12), spring washers (M 4), and hexagon nuts (M 4). The cam boxes and edge springs must be removed before placing the machine and stand on a work table. For specific serial numbers of DUOMATIC-80 (between 3'005'001 and 3'175'000, as well as 0001-0700), additional steps involving the racking plate are necessary. The racking plate compl. (art.no. 12.985.01) is screwed onto the machine. If parts of the racking plate compl. fall off during transport, they can be reassembled using a racking plate (art.no. 12.986.02), countersunk screws (M 3x6), special spring washers, spacing bushes, and washers (red). The machine is then placed on the angular brackets of the stand, shifted sideways, and the racking angle compl. is pushed back into position and tightened.
  • DUOMATIC 80, DUOMATIC-S, and TRICOMAT-32: The machine can be fitted with these accessories. For DUOMATIC 80, the driver for the cam box is fitted to the cam box back. For DUOMATIC-S and TRICOMAT-32, the driver for the cam box is also fitted to the cam box back. If a COLOR 80 or SPECIAL two-colour changer is not fitted, it must be installed according to instructions 33.269.83 (COLOR 80) or 33.610.83 (SPECIAL two-colour changer). For DUOMATIC-S or TRICOMAT-32, the protecting plate (art.no. 16.962.02) on the needle bed back must be unscrewed. If the protecting plate is to be refitted, two slits must be cut on its right-hand side, and it is then screwed back on with two screws.
  • Racking Mechanism: The racking angle (art.no. 12.986.02) and racking plate (art.no. 12.985.01) are crucial for the racking function. They are secured with cylinder screws (M 6x12), washers (D 6,4/11x1,6), spring washers (M 6), and hexagon nuts (M 6). The racking handle is used to adjust the racking, which should be checked by turning it left and right, then set to 0 with the handle down.

Usage Features:

  • Foot Controller: The Electra 3000 A is designed to be used with a foot controller, which plugs into a socket on the machine. The mains plug is then connected to a wall socket.
  • Control Bar and Tipping Switch: A control bar (art.no. 12.607.02) is inserted into the COLOR switch and pushed to the left. The tipping switch (4) is set to zero.
  • Cam Box: The cam box (with driver) is placed on the machine, and the slider (1) is pressed into the clutch on the toothed belt.
  • Accessories: The machine supports various accessories:
    • FORMA: This accessory is attached using a ratchet lever (art.no. 12.559.03), cylinder screws (M 4x8), and hexagon nuts (M 4). It also requires a special hexagon screw (M 4x10), supporting foot (art.no. 17.015.02), wing nuts (M 4), and knurled nuts (M 3). The correct functioning of the FORMA is checked by moving the cam box back and forth, adjusting the distance between FORMA and the cam box if necessary.
    • Lamp: The lamp is attached by unscrewing its foot, and if necessary, drilling two additional 4.3 mm holes 40 mm from the edge of existing holes. It is then assembled using special hexagon screws (M 4x10) and wing nuts (M 4).
    • MFS-80 and MFS-72 (Multiple Yarn Guide): To attach these, the lower carrier (1) must be drilled if it doesn't already have the necessary holes. This involves marking distances on the lower carrier, drilling 4.3 mm holes through both metal pieces using a twist drill. The yarn tensioner is then assembled according to the instruction book for MFS.
    • FORM COMPUTERS: The fitting of FORM COMPUTERS is detailed in instruction book art.no. 33.205.73, and the process is the same for Electra 2000 and 3000 models.

Maintenance Features:

  • Transport Screws: During transport (by rail or road), a transport screw (art.no. 12.764.02) and washer (art.no. 90.755.17) must be screwed in at position 11 on the scale. These parts should be kept safe. The transport screw can only be screwed in if the direction indicator (5) points to the right (down).
  • Pre-use Check: Before actual knitting, it is crucial to become fully acquainted with the machine by operating it without wool and following the instructions very carefully.
  • Racking Plate Assembly: If parts of the racking plate compl. (1) fall off during transportation, they can be reassembled following the provided diagram and parts list.
  • Lubrication: On both screwed-on special nuts (4) for the racking plate, the projecting small bolt should be slightly oiled.
  • Professional Installation: The fitting of the COLOR 80 and SPECIAL two-colour changers must be done by properly trained staff of the agency.

The manual emphasizes the importance of following instructions carefully, especially regarding the fitting of accessories and the initial setup, to ensure proper functioning and longevity of the Electra 3000 A.
