It supports magnetic stripe cards, smart cards (EMV), and contactless cards, making it versatile for different payment methods. The device includes a keypad for PIN entry, a display for transaction information, and communication capabilities for connecting to a POS system. It can be powered via an AC power adapter connected to a communication cable or directly through a powered USB cable from a POS terminal. The device also supports USB data connection for downloading and debugging purposes, as well as PIN Pad connection.

Usage Features

The Q25 terminal is designed for ease of use in various transaction scenarios.

  • Card Swiping (Magnetic Stripe): Cards can be swiped through the reader slot from top to bottom or bottom to top. The magnetic strip should be oriented towards the device's body, and the card must be fully inserted during the swipe.
  • Smart Card Insertion (EMV): Smart cards are inserted fully into the reader with the metallic contacts facing up and towards the device. Ensure the card is fully inserted while scanning.
  • Contactless Card Tapping: Contactless cards and devices should be placed roughly within an inch (2.5 mm) of the reader. For optimal performance, place the card as close as possible and center it over the indicated area at the back of the terminal.

For enhanced security, it is recommended to use privacy shields, position the terminal at an angle that obscures the PIN from view, keep it out of video surveillance, and encourage customers to shield their entry with their body or palm. Merchants can implement other methods to protect PIN information.
  • Communication: The 2x7 pin communication port supports both PIN Pad connection and USB data connection for software updates and troubleshooting.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the Q25 terminal.

  • Cleaning:
    • Do not use industrial-strength or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage or scratch the screen.
    • Avoid immersing the device in water or any other liquid.
    • Do not spray water or cleaner directly into the EMV Card Reader or any other ports.
    • To clean the screen, apply distilled water or a mild glass cleaner onto a soft, lint-free cloth, then gently wipe the terminal.
  • Cable Management: If any cables become damaged, they should be replaced immediately.
  • Port Integrity: Before inserting any card, inspect the inside and periphery of the IC card slot for any suspicious objects. Report any findings to the administrator. Do not insert unknown materials into any port on the Q25, as this can cause serious damage.
  • Environmental Considerations:
    • Avoid exposing the device to excessively hot, dusty, or strong electromagnetic environments.
    • Do not vibrate, shake, or drop the device.
  • Repairs: If repairs are necessary, contact a professional technician. Do not attempt repairs on your own.
  • Compliance: The device complies with FCC rules (Part 15 and Part 68) regarding interference and RF exposure. Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the responsible party could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
