8. Be accompanied
CAUTION
Never paddle alone.
It is always preferable to be accompanied on your outing in case of an
emergency or accident. You should know the level of physical ability of those
paddling with you and relevant medical conditions associated with each of them.
Always tell someone your plans, including your destination, how long you’ll be
gone, and how many people you’ll be with.
9. Always familiarize yourself with the body of water you intend to
navigate
WARNING
Scout unfamiliar water.
Find out what hours boating is permitted, if there are any known hazardous
conditions and where to get help quickly if there is an emergency or accident.
Check tidal changes and currents specific to your location. If you decide to go
down rapids, you need to scout in advance and, if necessary, portage your SUP
to bypass unfamiliar or dangerous zones.
10. Regulations and laws
CAUTION
Always follow Coast Guard regulations and/or boating and safety laws,
regulations and orders of various levels of government (including regional).
Consult the Coast Guard and/or authorities in various levels of government about
the proper handling of a boat and required and/or recommended equipment
such as lighting and sound alarms.
11. Drain plug
CAUTION
Make sure the drain plug at the rear of the SUP is firmly in place before putting
it in the water.
You may have to empty water that has accumulated due to condensation or
seepage.
12. Self protection
WARNING
Wear appropriate safety gear.
If you choose to go down rapids, you are voluntarily risking serious injury
or death. You must take the appropriate safety precautions, inspect your
equipment thoroughly, and wear appropriate safety gear. You should always
wear a lifejacket, a helmet and we strongly advise you to wear protection on
your arms, legs, etc. It is your responsibility to have the proper equipment and
familiarize yourself with the body of water before heading out.
WARNING
Never allow minors to use this board without adult supervision.
Never tow behind a boat.
Never use as a lifesaving device.
Never exceed the boat’s maximum weight.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
The best way to clean your SUP is by using a mixture of mild soap and warm
water. Do not use abrasives. Periodic cleaning will keep your boat looking like
new. Never try to paint your SUP because paint will not adhere to the hull.
NOTE
Do not remove the flotation foam installed in some models.
