OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
CAT. #4000
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Remove lens housing by turning counter-clockwise.
2. Lift out reflector, reflector spring and switch
housing.
3. Insert 4 D-cell alkaline batteries following
diagram with positive and negative arrows.
4. Insert center shock pad (or lead weight if
sinking version desired).
5. Place remaining 4 D-cells in the body with the
same polarity as first 4 cells. Follow arrows.
6. Insert second center shock square block foam.
7. Replace the switch housing, reflector spring and
the reflector back into the body as removed. Be
sure switch is aligned with switch lever on inside
body.
8. Place lens squarely on body and screw on
until lens bottoms out on body.
ADJUSTING HANDLE POSITION
To change to any desired handle configuration, retract
locking slide on handle by pressing lock tab with
thumb and forefinger. Retract slide into handle. Slide
handle into desired configuration and let lock slide
groove on body. Check to see that the handle locks
firmly in the desired slot.
OPERATING THE DUAL FILAMENT
XENON LAMP
Move the switch to the left or to the right circuit.
OFF is the center position. If either filament fails, switch
to the other filament for additional 25-30 hours of lamp
life. We recommend you replace lamp when finished
using primary filament to ensure continued backup
preparedness. A spare lamp holder is located next to
the lamp base.
LAMP REPLACEMENT
Push lamp down in the socket and turn counter-
clockwise to release the lamp from the base.
Replace new lamp in reverse manner, pushing
down and turning clockwise to lock in socket.
Always inspect base and contacts for corrosion.
Clean with fine sandpaper.
FOCUS ADJUSTMENT
To focus either the Laser Spot or Modified Spot
reflector, shine the beam on a light colored
background, approximately 10 feet away for the
Modified Spot and 30 feet away for the Laser
Spot. Turn lens all the way onto the threads until
lens bottoms out. Back off lens slowly until focus
occurs (approximately 3/4 of one turn). Both fila-
ments should now be in focus until lens is moved.
WARNING! STATIC HAZARD
Clean only with a damp cloth
WARNING
Explosion Hazard - Substitution of components
may impair suitability for use in hazardous loca-
tions
WARNING
Explosion Hazard - Batteries must only be
changed and/or charged in non-hazardous
locations.
SAFETY SWITCH LOCK
To ensure against accidental battery burn-down
in storage, slide the switch lock forward into slot
on switch knob.
CAUTION:
If light is not to be used for some time, remove
batteries to prevent possible leakage and
corrosion.
O-RING MAINTENANCE
Check closely for cuts, scratches, or otherwise
damaged O-ring or mating lens lip surface.
Remove any dirt or foreign matter from O-ring
sealing surfaces. Keep threads, O-ring groove and
inside lip of lens lubricated with silicone grease.

INSTRUCCIONES DE FUNCIONAMIENTO
NO. DE CAT. 4000
INSTALACIÓN DE LAS PILAS
Ahora ambos
filamentos deben permanecer enfocados hasta que
se mueva el lente.
