If there are combustion devices in more than one room,
however, and there are only a limited number of detectors or
just one detector available, the following points should be
takenintoaccountintheselectionofthebestlocation:
If there is a combustion device in a room in which you
sleep,youshouldinstalladetectorinthisroom.
If there is a combustion device inthe room in which you
spenda lotofyourtime, e.g.theliving room,youshould
installadetectorinthisroom.
In a 1-room apartment, the detector should be installed
as far away as possible from the cooking facilities but
closetothesleepingarea.
If there is a combustion device in a room which is
normally not used (e.g. boiler room), you should install
acarbonmonoxidedetectordirectlyoutside this room so
thatthedetectorcanbeheardmoreeasily.
Always check out the heating appliances and fuels in
holidaypremises. The carbon monoxide detector is ideal
fortakingonholiday, always remember to also take this
usermanual.
The installation location must be selected in accordance with
thefollowingcriteria:
When wall mounted, the device should be located near
the ceiling whilst maintaining a distance of 150 mm to
the ceiling. When ceiling mounted, the device should be
locatedatleast300mmfromanywall.
Thedeviceshould be placed at a height above thatofall
doorsandwindows.
The carbon monoxide device should be placed at a
distance which, measured horizontally, is between 1 m
and3mfromthepossiblesource.
If there is a partition ina room, the device should be on
thesamesideofthepartitionasthepossiblesource.
In rooms with sloping ceilings the device should be
locatedatthehighersideoftheroom.
It should be possible to view the LED light indicators
wheninthevicinityofthedevice.
The detector should be installed at a height of 1,5 m
above floor level and it should be installed close to the
breathing zone of the occupants. The breathing zone
should be regarded as the horizontal level in the room
whereapersonshead spendsmostof thetime,i.e.while
satin a chair or laidon a pillow. Payparticular attention
tothenormallocationoftheelderlyanddisabled.
In sleeping roomsthe detectorshould be located next to
thebed.

The device can either be fixed with two screws to a wall or it
canbefreestandingusingthestand[11].
1. 1 Slide the baseplate [7] onto the detector. The device
will automatically switch on and beep 4 times whilst the
LEDs [1-3] illuminate. Test the device by following the
testprocedure(seechapter12).
To remove the baseplate and turn off the device depress
the tab [9] fully towards the back of the baseplate and
slidethedetectorupwards.
2. Slidethedetectorontothestand[11].
3. Position the detector in the chosen location in free air
with no local obstructions and close to the front edge of
shelvesandsurfaces(seechapter10„Location“)
