What to do if Perfect Aire 2PACH8000 Heat Pump is cooling but room is too warm and ice is forming?
    • B
      boydrobertSep 7, 2025
If your Perfect Aire heat pump is cooling, but the room remains too warm and ice forms on the cooling coil, it could be due to several reasons. If the outdoor temperature is below 64ºF (18ºC), set the unit to FAN only mode to defrost the coil. A dirty air filter can also cause this issue; clean the filter. If the thermostat is set too cold for nighttime cooling, defrost the coil by setting it to FAN only mode and then raise the temperature setting.

Verify the filter isn't dirty, the louvers are fully open, and the unit is set to Cool Mode at an adequate temperature. Relocate the unit if it's near a heat source. If the air is cool to the touch, double-check the points above. If you're using the Follow Me remote feature, move the remote away from the unit. Also, ensure the temperature sensor behind the air filter isn't touching the cold coil; carefully straighten the tube if they are. As a last resort, unplug the unit for at least 5 minutes and follow the reset i...
