Coax against
the stop

Cut the end of the
cable cleanly with
sharp cutters at a
90° angle.
Insert the coax into the appropriate cable prep tool so
the end of the coax is flush against the stop.
Turn the prep tool five or six full and continuous revolutions
around the coax. Do not reverse the direction of the turn, it
is unnecessary and can damage the braid.

It is important to make sure
ALL the braid wires are
folded back neatly.
Do not nick or cut through these wires
The two cutoff
sections should
be 1/4" and
5/16" long.
Remove the foil layer. Cutoffs should be 1/4” and
5/16” long.
Fold ALL braid wires
back neatly.
Nick the foil close to the
PVC jacket and begin
peeling the foil.

Fold back the first
layer of braid wires.
Peel off the foil layer.
Fold ALL braid wires
back neatly.

Cable Preparation Steps

Cut Cable End

Cut the cable cleanly with sharp cutters at a 90° angle.

Insert Coax into Prep Tool

Insert the coax into the appropriate cable prep tool so the end is flush against the stop.

Rotate Prep Tool

Turn the prep tool five or six full revolutions around the coax without reversing direction.

Prepare Dual Shield Cable

Ensure cutoff sections are 1/4" and 5/16" long; do not nick or cut through wires.

Prepare Tri-Shield Cable

Cutoffs should be 1/4" and 5/16"; nick foil, peel foil, and fold back braid neatly.

Prepare Quad-Shield Cable

Fold back braid layers, nick outer foil, peel foil, and fold back all braid neatly.

Connector Installation and Finalization

Inspect Connector Fit

Inspect work carefully, checking for issues and ensuring the aluminum jacket lies flat against the dielectric.

Fit and Press Connector

Gently fit connector, ensure dielectric/foil enter post without damage, and press until flush.

Verify Connector Alignment

Check that the connector slides down smoothly if all parts are aligned properly.

Crimp Connector

Compress the connector to 21 mm using the PV-200 tool.
