WARNING
It is the owner and/or operators’ responsibility to study all WARNINGS, operating, and
maintenance instructions contained on the product label and instruction manual prior to operation
of this product. The owner/operator shall retain product instructions for future reference.
The owner and/or operator are responsible for maintenance, maintaining all decals or warning
labels and while in use, maintaining the unit in good working order. If the owner and/or operator
are not fluent in English, the product warnings and instructions shall be read and discussed with
the operators’ native language by the purchaser/owner or his designee. Make sure that the
operator comprehends its contents. Safety information shall be emphasized and understood prior
to usage. The product shall be inspected per the operating instructions.
Users of this product must fully understand these instructions. Each person operating this
product must also be of sound mind and body and must not be under the influence of any
substance that might impair their vision, dexterity or judgment.
Protect yourself and others by observing all safety information.
Failure to comply with instructions could result in personal injury and/or property damage!
If you encounter any problems or difficulties, please contact our customer service department at:
1-800-426-1262 between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Pacific time.
12. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded
surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges
and refrigerators. There is an increased risk
of electric shock if your body is earthed or
grounded.
13. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet
conditions. Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
14. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the
cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the
power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil,
sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or
entangled cords increase the risk of electric
shock. Always grasp plug, not cord, when
unplugging from an outlet.
15. When operating a power tool outdoors,
use an extension cord suitable for outdoor
use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use
reduces the risk of electric shock.
16.
Use power tool ONLY on adequately rated circuits
to avoid overheating of electrical systems.
17.
Prevent accidental starting. Ensure switch
is in the “OFF” position before connecting to
power source and/or battery pack, picking
up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools
with your nger on the switch or energizing
power tools that have the switch “ON” invites
accidents.
18. Do not use the power tool if the switch
does not turn it on and off. Any power tool
that cannot be controlled with the switch is
dangerous and must be repaired.
19. Maintain labels and nameplates on the tool.
These carry important safety information. If
unreadable or missing, contact Performance
Tool® for a replacement.
20. Disconnect the plug from the power source
before any adjustments or changing bulbs.
Such preventive safety measures reduce the
risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
Unplug work light and any connected
equipment when not in use.

shall not be liable for consequential, incidental or special damages resulting from or in any manner related to any product,
or to the design, use, or any inability to use the product. The sole and exclusive remedy for a defective product or part

Overview

This document describes the 13 Watt Fluorescent Worklight (Item Number W2252), an electrical lighting device designed for various work environments. It serves as an owner's manual, providing essential safety guidelines, operational instructions, and maintenance information to ensure safe and effective use.

Function Description:

The primary function of this device is to provide illumination for work areas using a 13-watt Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) bulb. It is designed to be a portable and convenient light source for tasks requiring additional visibility. The worklight is intended for general use in adequately rated circuits to prevent overheating of electrical systems. It is crucial to use this product responsibly and in accordance with all safety instructions to avoid personal injury, property damage, or electrical hazards. The device is not intended to be used as a power source itself, and its electrical rating should not be exceeded.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Light Source: 13W 10,000-hour CFL bulb. This indicates a long lifespan for the bulb, reducing the frequency of replacements.
  • Power Supply: 120V AC. This is a standard household voltage in North America, making it compatible with most wall outlets.
  • Cord: 6 foot, 18GA, grounded. The 6-foot cord provides a reasonable reach, and the 18-gauge wire is suitable for the power requirements of the light. The grounded plug is a critical safety feature, reducing the risk of electric shock.
  • Item Number: W2252. This is the unique identifier for this specific product model.
  • Manufacturer: WILMAR CORPORATION.

Usage Features:

  • Portability: The design implies a portable nature, suitable for moving to different work areas as needed.
  • Ease of Use: The manual emphasizes straightforward operation, with a focus on safety precautions before, during, and after use.
  • Grounded Plug: The 3-prong grounded plug is a key safety feature, designed to protect the user from electric shock by providing a path for fault current to ground. Users are explicitly warned not to modify the plug or use adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools, as this compromises the grounding.
  • Outdoor Use (with precautions): If operating outdoors, an extension cord suitable for outdoor use is required to reduce the risk of electric shock. The worklight itself should not be exposed to rain or wet conditions.
  • Switch Control: The device features an ON/OFF switch. Users are instructed to ensure the switch is in the "OFF" position before connecting to a power source or battery pack to prevent accidental starting. A faulty switch that does not turn the light on and off makes the tool dangerous and requires repair.
  • Bulb Replacement: While not explicitly detailed as a user-serviceable feature, the mention of "changing bulbs" implies that the bulb can be replaced. Users are instructed to disconnect the plug from the power source before any adjustments or changing bulbs.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Inspection: Users are advised to inspect the tool before every use for loose or damaged parts. Any damaged parts must be repaired or replaced before operation. This includes checking all nuts, bolts, and fittings for security.
  • Cord Care: The manual stresses the importance of proper cord handling. The cord should not be abused, used for carrying, pulling, or unplugging the tool. It must be kept away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. Users should always grasp the plug, not the cord, when unplugging.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Keeping the work area clean, well-ventilated, and well-lit is recommended. Cluttered work areas can lead to accidents.
  • Label and Nameplate Maintenance: Important safety information is conveyed through labels and nameplates on the tool. Users are instructed to maintain these, and if they become unreadable or missing, to contact Performance Tool® for replacements.
  • Cleaning: While not explicitly detailed, the general safety guidelines for power tools often imply keeping the device clean to ensure proper function and prevent accumulation of dust or debris that could affect performance or safety.
  • Repair Policy (Warranty): The 1-year limited warranty outlines the procedure for addressing defects. Within 90 days of purchase, a defective product can be returned for a free replacement. After 90 days and up to one year, Performance Tool® will replace defective parts at no charge, provided a sales receipt accompanies the request. This warranty excludes consumables like bulbs and does not cover products used for unintended purposes, repaired/altered in a way that affects performance, or subjected to misuse, neglect, accident, or normal wear and tear. Users are explicitly warned not to alter, splice, repair, or modify the product in any way, as this could void the warranty and lead to hazards.

Safety Information Emphasis:

The manual places a strong emphasis on safety, using distinct signal words (DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION, NOTICE) to highlight potential hazards. It warns against using the product near gas, combustible, or explosive materials due to the risk of ignition from sparks. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety goggles, dusk masks, non-skid shoes, hard hats, and hearing protection are recommended. Users are advised to stay alert, avoid operating while tired or under the influence, and maintain proper footing and balance. The document also includes specific warnings for individuals with pacemakers, advising them to consult their physician and avoid operating alone, and to ensure proper grounding and the implementation of a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). The overall message is that users must fully understand and comply with all instructions to prevent personal injury and property damage.
