Overview

The Pharmacold NAB Classic Series Pharmacy Refrigerators are medical-grade refrigerators designed for the safe storage of pharmacological items. These units are distributed by 360 Medical Inc. and come with pre-programmed temperature settings and alarms to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Function Description

The primary function of the Pharmacold NAB Classic Series Pharmacy Refrigerators (NAB-60, NAB-140, and NAB-260 models) is to maintain a stable and controlled internal temperature for storing temperature-sensitive medical and pharmaceutical products. They feature a digital display controller for setting and monitoring the internal temperature, as well as for managing alarms. The refrigerators are equipped with a cooling system that includes a compressor and a fan to circulate air. Automatic defrosting is a standard feature to prevent ice buildup.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Models: NAB-60, NAB-140, NAB-260.
  • Set Point: Factory set at 5°C.
  • Low Temperature Alarm: Factory set at 2°C.
  • High Temperature Alarm: Factory set at 8°C.
  • Ambient Temperature Range: Recommended operating range is 10°C to 30°C.
  • Power Supply: Uses a three-pin plug that must be well-grounded. Users are advised to check that the voltage corresponds to the rating plate on the back of the fridge.
  • Refrigeration Circuit: Designed to be robust, users are warned not to damage it.
  • Defrosting: Automatic defrosting process.
  • Alarms: Includes a low-temperature alarm, high-temperature alarm, door open alarm, and power failure alarm.
  • Display: Digital display controller shows the current internal temperature.
  • Ventilation: All models require clear and unobstructed ventilation from the front grille (NAB-60, NAB-140) or rear (NAB-260). The NAB-260 specifically requires at least 6 inches of space for proper air circulation at the rear.

Usage Features

  • Temperature Control: The digital display controller allows users to set and adjust the desired temperature. The set temperature can be modified by pressing the up or down buttons.
  • Temperature Viewing: Users can view the current sensor temperature reading by pressing the appropriate button.
  • Manual Operation: A manual override function allows users to force a switch between refrigeration, defrost delay, and defrost dripping by pressing a button for 3 seconds.
  • Door Features: Equipped with a door lock, door switch, and a door open alarm.
  • Internal Lighting: LED light inside the storage compartment, which turns on when the door is opened and can also be controlled by a light switch on the front panel.
  • Storage: Adjustable shelves allow for flexible organization of stored items.
  • Positioning: The unit should be positioned on a level surface to ensure proper door sealing and drainage. It should not be tipped more than 45 degrees during movement. Adequate space must be allowed for the door to fully open.
  • Power-on Delay: If power is cut off, a minimum 5-minute wait is recommended before plugging the unit back in to prevent compressor damage.
  • Safety Guidelines: Users are advised to avoid overloading the power supply, never use extension cords or multiple adapters, and ensure all electrical work is performed by qualified technicians. The appliance should not be used for purposes other than its intended use as a medical refrigerator. Explosive substances or aerosol cans with flammable propellant should not be stored inside.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: All cleaning and maintenance should be performed by qualified and/or licensed service technicians. Users are warned to disconnect the plug before cleaning. Abrasive cleaning agents should not be used. The unit should be wiped dry after cleaning.
  • Condenser Cleaning: The condenser must be kept clean and free of dust. Regular cleaning (at least monthly) is recommended to prevent damage to the refrigeration system and to maintain warranty validity. A vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment is suggested for removing dust. Users are warned not to use stiff brushes, sharp objects, or water to clean the condenser, as it is a delicate component.
  • Troubleshooting: A troubleshooting guide is provided in the manual to help identify and resolve common issues before contacting service personnel. This includes checks for power supply, ventilation, door sealing, and appliance positioning.
  • Service Record: A dedicated section in the manual allows users to record all service and repairs performed on the fridge for future reference.
  • Warranty: The product comes with a 1-year parts warranty, 1-year labor warranty, and a 5-year compressor part warranty from the purchase date.
  • Disposal Guidelines: Users are instructed not to dispose of the product in municipal waste due to hazardous materials. Contacting local municipal government for proper recycling and disposal information is recommended.
