Overview

The Phaze 4-in-1 Jump Starter is a versatile portable power source designed for various automotive and personal electronic needs. It combines a jump starter, a 12V DC power source, and a 5V USB charging port, making it a comprehensive tool for emergencies and everyday use.

Function Description:

The primary function of this device is to jump-start vehicles with 12V starting systems. It provides a substantial 350 Amps of intermittent jump-starting current, capable of assisting with vehicle battery issues. Beyond jump-starting, the unit serves as a portable 12V DC power source through its cigarette lighter sockets, allowing users to operate or charge 12V DC appliances up to a maximum of 10 amps. Additionally, it features a 5V USB port, enabling the charging or operation of standard A-type USB devices, though compatibility with Apple and other specific devices may vary. An integral light is also included for convenience in low-light conditions.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Charger Supply Voltage: 230V 50Hz AC
  • Output Voltage (Battery Clips & Cigar Sockets): 12V DC
  • Output Voltage (USB Port): 5V DC 0.5A
  • Jump Starting Current: 350 Amps (intermittent recommended max.)
  • Internal Battery: 17A/h (sealed lead-acid)

Usage Features:

  • Jump Starting:
    • Ensure the internal battery has sufficient charge.
    • Switch off the vehicle ignition.
    • Set the Power Pack's rotary On/Off switch to OFF.
    • Connect the red (+) clamp to the vehicle's positive battery terminal.
    • Connect the black (-) clamp to the engine or chassis (an unpainted, dirt-free, non-moving metal component, NOT a fuel line). Crucially, the black (-) clamp must NOT be connected to the negative terminal of the vehicle battery due to explosion risk.
    • Ensure leads are clear of hot or moving parts.
    • Turn the rotary On/Off switch to ON. Wait approximately one minute for charge equalization.
    • Start the vehicle engine.
    • Once started, return the rotary On/Off switch to OFF.
    • Disconnect the black (-) clamp first, then the red (+) clamp. Do not pull the cable to disconnect.
    • Important Safety Note: Incorrect connection can cause severe damage to the vehicle and the Power Pack, and may result in personal injury.
  • 12V Cigarette Lighter Sockets:
    • These sockets are designed for operating 12V DC appliances (max 10A) with a cigarette lighter plug.
    • Warning: Do not use this feature when the internal battery is being recharged.
    • Using these sockets will discharge the internal battery, potentially requiring a recharge before jump-starting is possible.
    • In case of overload, remove the plug and press the overload reset button on the rear.
  • 5V USB Port:
    • Used for charging or operating 5V DC appliances with a standard A-type USB plug.
    • The LED next to the USB port illuminates when in use.
    • Activate/deactivate by pressing the button above the port.
  • Integral Light: Activated by pushing the button on the front panel.

Maintenance Features:

  • Recharging the Internal Battery:
    • Crucial: Charge before first use, recharge after every use, and recharge every 2 months.
    • To check charge status, push the test button on the left side of the front panel. A green LED indicates sufficient charge, while yellow or red LEDs indicate a need for partial or full charge.
    • To charge, plug the 230V UK mains charging adaptor into the rear socket, then into a 230V mains socket and switch on. The 'Charging' LED will illuminate.
    • When fully charged, the charging indicator LED will turn off, and the 'Charged' LED will illuminate. Disconnect the adaptor from the Power Pack and the mains supply.
  • General Care:
    • Store in a dry place, below 50°C, to avoid moisture damage.
    • Do not use if damaged or when the internal battery is being recharged.
    • Always recharge indoors, in a well-ventilated area, and not in wet or damp conditions.
    • Keep the product in an upright position.
    • Switch off when not in use.
    • When switched on, do NOT allow red and black clamp metal parts to touch.
    • Important Note: Storing the Power Pack with a discharged battery will cause irreversible damage to the battery.
  • Safety:
    • Wear eye protection when working with lead-acid batteries.
    • Avoid contact with electrolyte from vehicle batteries, as it is acidic and can cause burns. Rinse affected areas with water immediately and seek medical advice if symptoms persist.
  • Disposal and Recycling:
    • The product contains a sealed lead-acid battery that should not be tampered with.
    • Dispose of at a recognized recycling facility or collection point.
    • This product is marked as Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and should not be mixed with general household waste. Take WEEE marked products to Local Authority Civic waste sites.
    • Spent batteries should be collected separately for proper treatment and recycling. Contribute to battery recycling by segregating all spent batteries and participating in collection schemes.
