The PHIATON 900 LEGACY are wireless digital hybrid noise-cancelling headphones with a touch interface, designed to provide a high-quality audio experience with advanced features for convenience and control.
The PHIATON 900 LEGACY headphones are primarily designed for wireless audio playback and communication. They utilize Bluetooth 5.1 for connection to various devices, offering a stable and efficient wireless experience. A key feature is the digital hybrid noise-cancelling function, which actively reduces mid/low-pitched sounds under 1kHz, making them ideal for use in noisy environments such as airplanes, buses, and subway trains. This noise-cancelling feature is automatically activated when the headphones are powered on or when an audio cable is plugged in.
In addition to noise cancellation, the headphones include an "Audio Transparency" or "Monitoring" feature. This allows users to temporarily stop noise cancellation and hear surrounding sounds without removing the headphones, enhancing situational awareness.
For communication, the 900 LEGACY supports call functions, enabling users to accept, end, or reject calls directly from the headphones. It also includes call waiting functionality and the ability to switch calls between the mobile phone and the headphones.
The headphones boast a "Multipoint Connection" feature, allowing simultaneous connection to two Bluetooth devices. This means users can seamlessly switch between, for example, a smartphone and a tablet without needing to re-pair the devices.
A "Smart Play/Pause" function is integrated, which detects whether the headphones are being worn. Music will automatically play when the headphones are on the ears and pause when they are removed, offering a convenient and intuitive listening experience.
The device also provides a "Disconnect Notification" feature, which alerts the user with vibrations and beeps when the headphones move out of communication range from the connected Bluetooth device. If the user returns within range before the notification sequence ends, the connection is maintained.
The 900 LEGACY headphones are designed for ease of use with a combination of physical buttons and a touch interface.
To power on, users press and hold the POWER button for 2 seconds. To power off, the POWER button is held for 2.5 seconds. Upon initial power-on after purchase, the headphones automatically enter pairing mode. For subsequent connections, if a Bluetooth device is not connected within 5 minutes in "Connection Waiting Mode," the headphones will automatically turn off.
Pairing with a Bluetooth device involves turning on the Bluetooth feature on the desired device, placing it within 3 feet of the headphones, and then pressing and holding the POWER button on the headphones for over 5 seconds to enter "Pairing Mode." Voice guidance confirms "Pairing Mode activated," and the LED indicator blinks blue and red alternately. Once paired, the headphones will automatically reconnect to previously connected devices when powered on and within range. Manual reconnection is also possible if the automatic reconnection fails.
Music playback is controlled via the touch panel on the right side of the headphones or the POWER button. A double tap on the touch panel or a 1-second press of the POWER button will play or pause music. Volume adjustment is done by swiping up (Vol+) or down (Vol-) on the touch panel. To skip tracks, users swipe forward (FF) or backward (REW) on the touch panel. The "Smart Play/Pause" feature automatically pauses music when headphones are removed and resumes when worn. If not worn, music can be resumed by double-tapping the touch panel or pressing the POWER button.
When an incoming call is received, users can quickly double-tap the touch panel or press the POWER button to accept the call. The music will pause during the call. To end a call, the same action (double-tap touch panel or quick press of POWER button) is performed. To reject an incoming call, the POWER button is pressed and held for about 1 second. During a call, volume can be controlled using the touch panel. Call waiting and switching between calls are also supported by pressing and holding the POWER button for approximately 1 second.
The noise-cancelling function is activated automatically. To activate the "Audio Transparency" feature, which allows external sounds to be heard, the "NC mode button" is pressed. Pressing it again will re-activate noise cancellation.
The remaining battery level can be checked by quickly pressing the POWER button twice when the headphones are powered on. An LED indicator displays the battery status (e.g., blue light for charging complete, red light for charging). Voice guidance also provides information on battery levels (e.g., "Battery is full," "Battery is moderate," "Battery is low," "Please recharge"). For Apple iOS devices (version 5 or above), the battery level is also displayed on the device screen.
The headphones can also be used with the included 3.5 mm audio cable. When connected via cable, Bluetooth remote features are disabled, and control must be done from the connected device.
The device should be charged before first use. It uses a standard USB-C charging cable (included) and can be connected to a computer or a USB adaptor (5V, over 500mA, not included). The LED indicator shows a red light during charging and a blue light when charging is complete. The device has a built-in battery and begins charging automatically when connected.
When not in use, the headphones should be stored in the provided protective case to prevent damage.
For cleaning, a clean dry cloth should be used to wipe the device. Solvents should not be used.
Replacement ear pads can be purchased from Phiaton Customer Service by emailing SUPPORT@PHIATON.COM.
To reset the device to factory settings, users must power off the headphones and then continue to press and hold the POWER button for over 10 seconds. The device will reset itself, indicated by 5 purble light blinks. A hardware reset, which powers off the device but retains pairing history, can be performed by simultaneously pressing the power button and connecting the USB charging cable. This is recommended if headphone or function keys are not working.
The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting section for common issues such as the device not turning on, not charging, pairing difficulties, music playback problems, noise/sound lag, low music quality, call issues, and problems with noise cancelling or audio transparency. It advises users to check connections, power status, Bluetooth settings, and device compatibility. For PC/Laptop pairing issues, it suggests contacting the manufacturer for the latest software drivers.
