In
the
stand-by’
mode
the
cassette
player
is
at
rest.
The
pressure
roller
and
the
tape
head
are
disengaged
from
the
tape
and
the
cassette
may
remain
in
the
cassette
compartment.
This
offers
the
following
advantages:
The
display
of
the
radio
is
not
obscured
by
a
protruded
cassette.
The
cassette
remains
protected
from
dust
and
dirt
(a.o.
residuals
of
cigars
and
cigarettes).
The
cassette
player
is
automatically
switched
over
to
the
stand-by
mode:
If
the
cassette
is
played
to
the
end.
Incase
of
tape
salad
or
breakage
(autostop).
If
during
playback
or
fast
winding
the
power
supply
is
interrupted
or
suddenly
switched
off
when
leaving
the
car
for
example.
MSS
(Music
Sensor
System)
This
system
enables
the
listener
to
search
rapidly
and
accurately
during
playback
the
beginning
of
a
music
part
and
to
replay
it.
It
is
also
possible
to
wind
rapidly
and
accurately
to
the
beginning
of
the
next
music
part.
A
special
electronic
circuit
responds
to
the
pause
between
two
music
parts
(recordings)
on
the
tape.

is
moved
into
the
first
locking
position
to
the
right
or
to
the
left,
fast
forward
winding
or
fast
rewinding
starts
until
the
tape
has
reached
the
next
or
previous
music
pause.
Then
fast
winding
is
stopped;

reassumes

mid-position
and
the
desired
music
part
will
be
replayed.
Note
When
cassettes
recorded
as
described
below
are
used,
the
MSS-system
may
not
function
satisfactorily,
causing
tapes
to
stop
somewhere
in
the
middle
of
arecording
or
to
overruna
silent
pause
segment
between
two
music
parts.
Cassette
tapes
with
much
hum
or
noise
in
silent
pauses
between
two
music
parts.
Cassette
tapes
with
silent
pauses
lasting
less
than
3
seconds.
Cassette
tapes
which
contain
very
soft
passages
(pianissimi)
or
intermittent
silent
intervals
(conversation,
news
reading
etc...).
Playback

Hold
the
cassette
with
the
open
side
to
the
right
and
the
full
reel
towards
you.
Insert
the
cassette
in
the
cassette
compartment
(3).
Playback
starts
now
automatically
and
indicator
(7)
will
illuminate.

To
stop
cassette
playback
before
the
end
of
the
tape,
press
function
button
/lever
(5)
halfway.
The
player
will
then
be
set
to
stand-by
position
and
the
unit
automatically
switches
to
radio
reception.

The
cassette
may
be
removed
by

plays

trouble
with
a
jamming
cassette.

damage

after
pushing

Fast
winding
Fast
winding
may
be
started
from
two
positions:
a)
From
playback
position
(cassette

pass
to
fast
forward
winding
or
fast
rewinding
by
moving

the
extreme
right
or
left
locking
position
(respectively).
