Introduction
Dear customer, congratulations on acquiring this new Philips sandwich toaster.We hope you will
enjoy your purchase.
General description (fig. 1)
A Bread baskets with squeeze handle and cheese drip tray
B On/off knob (type HD2500) or timer (type HD2502)
C Crumb tray
D Cord storage facility
Important
Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and save them for future
reference.
Check if the voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance corresponds to the local mains
voltage before you connect the appliance.
Never let the appliance operate unattended.
Only allow children to operate the toaster under close supervision.
Never leave packaging materials (such as plastic bags and pieces of cardboard) within the
reach of children since they may be dangerous.
Always connect the appliance to an earthed wall socket.
Avoid touching the metal parts of the toaster, as they get very hot during toasting. Only
touch the knob and the sqeeze handles of the bread baskets. Lift the appliance by its plastic
body.
Always make sure that your hands are dry when you are using the appliance.
Do not operate the toaster under or near curtains and other flammable materials or under
wall cabinets to avoid the risk of fire. Please note that bread may burn.
Do not place bread or any other objects directly on top of the toaster, as this could cause
damage and dangerous situations (fig. 2).
This appliance is intended for household use only. It is not intended for commercial or
industrial use.
Before first use
1 Remove any stickers and wipe the body, bread baskets and top of the appliance with a damp
cloth.
2 Insert the crumb tray into the left side of the appliance.
3 Let the first toasting cycle take place without inserting any bread to preheat the new heating
elements and burn off any dust that may have accumulated during storage.
The new heating elements may give off some smoke.
Using the appliance
Put the toaster on a stable and flat surface, away from curtains and other flammable
materials.
Connect the appliance to an earthed wall socket.
The length of the cord can be adjusted by winding part of it round the brackets in the base
of the appliance (fig. 3).
Toasting bread or sandwiches
This toaster can also be used to prepare toasted sandwiches. Just put e.g. ham and cheese between
two thin slices of bread and put the sandwich in the basket.
