The air hoses are not designed to be sterilized and should not be autoclaved. It is crucial to prevent cleaning or lubricating fluids from entering the hose, as this can damage the monitoring equipment.
For M1598B, M1599B, Mobile CL, and Efficia hoses, if connecting to cuffs becomes difficult, the cuff-end connector can be lubricated with a non-silicone spray release agent. However, instrument-end connectors and connectors for M1596C and M1597C hoses should not be lubricated.
The manual provides a comprehensive cleaning and disinfection table for all hose types, indicating approved cleaners/disinfectants:
- Approved for all hose types (Neonatal, Adult, Mobile CL, Efficia): Mild soap, Isopropyl alcohol, Hydrogen peroxide, Sodium hypochlorite, Viraguard®, TechSpray®, Sani-Cloth® Bleach, Sani-Cloth® HB, Super Sani-Cloth®, Carpe Diem™/MC Tb Wipes.
- Approved for Adult, Mobile CL, Efficia (but not Neonatal): Metrex Cavi-Wipes, Oxivir® Tb Cleaner Disinfectant, Oxivir® Tb Wipes, Bacillol AF, Meliseptol.
- Approved for Mobile CL and Efficia (but not Neonatal or Adult): Sani-Cloth® PLUS.
After cleaning and disinfection, the hoses should be wiped with clean water to remove all residue.
Warnings:
- Neonatal and infant #5 cuffs must only be used with hoses designated for Neonatal use.
- Pediatric and adult cuffs must only be used with hoses designated for Adult use.
- Philips NIBP air hoses use connectors that have the potential to misconnect with small-bore connectors used in non-NIBP healthcare applications. Users must ensure that connectors are properly connected to Philips NIBP devices only.
