Why is there no sound coming from my Pioneer Stereo Receiver?

  There could be several reasons for this. First, check if the connections are correct. Also, ensure that the sound isn't muted by pressing the MUTE button on the remote. The volume might be too low, so adjust the MASTER VOLUME. Check if the TAPE 2 MONITOR is ON and if so, press the TAPE 2 MONITOR button. Make sure the correct speakers are selected by pressing SPEAKERS (A/B). Finally, verify that the DIGITAL/ANALOG switch is set correctly.

  The Dolby Digital / DTS source may not be 5 channels. There is no problem with the receiver, but if you want 5 channel sound you must play a 5 channel source.

  The LD may not be a Dolby Digital compatible disc. Set the SIGNAL SELECT to analog (make sure your LD player is hooked up with analog connections in addition to digital and 2 RF connections).
