Overview

This document provides an overview of the Pioneer Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV035AVTTW5W), covering its functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Pioneer Energy Recovery Ventilator is designed for indoor applications in apartments, villas, hotels, cafes, and other domestic and public buildings. Its primary function is to exchange air, supplying fresh air while extracting stale air using energy recovery technology. The ventilator is equipped with a ceramic energy regenerator and a fan.

Operation Modes:

  • Ventilation Mode: The ventilator operates in either supply or exhaust mode at a set speed. When two connected ventilators are synchronized, one runs in supply mode and the other in exhaust mode.
  • Regeneration Mode: The ventilator operates in two cycles of 75 seconds each to provide heat and moisture regeneration.
  • Interval 1: Warm polluted air is extracted from the room and passes through the ceramic regenerator, which gradually absorbs heat and moisture. After 75 seconds, the ventilator switches to supply mode.
  • Interval 2: Fresh and cold outdoor air passes through the heat regenerator and absorbs accumulated moisture and heat after 75 seconds. When the energy regenerator gets cold, the ventilator switches to exhaust mode.

IOT Networking Functions (CO2 Version): The device supports Wi-Fi connectivity and can be controlled via the "Pioneer Airlink" smartphone application. Key features include:

  • ERV Name: Each device can be named and managed through the app.
  • Pairing Icon: Indicates when devices are paired, and if a slave unit is offline.
  • Filter Alarm: Reminds the user to clean or replace filters; the icon disappears after reset.
  • CO2 Concentration Setting: When a CO2 sensor is connected, if indoor CO2 concentration exceeds a set value during regeneration mode, the unit switches to supply mode to dilute CO2 until the concentration is below the set value. This setting ranges from 400 to 2000ppm.
  • 12-Hours Timer: Allows for scheduled shutdown.
  • Outdoor Temperature Display: Shows outdoor temperature when the unit is ON and operating in supply or regeneration mode. Not displayed in exhaust mode.
  • Free Cooling Temperature Setting: Enables supply mode without heat recovery when outdoor air is comfortable (50°F to 84°F).
  • Real-time Indoor CO2 Concentration: Displays current indoor CO2 levels.
  • Remaining Time: Shows time left after scheduled shutdown.
  • Fan Boost Function: Supplies/exhausts air at the highest speed.
  • Fan Speed: Offers three speeds.
  • Indicator Lights: ON/OFF status for various functions.
  • CO2 Concentration Function ON/OFF: Toggles CO2-based operation.
  • Free Cooling Function ON/OFF: Toggles free cooling.
  • Negative Ion Function ON/OFF: Toggles negative ion generation (if purchased separately).

Status Light (RGB-LED):

  • ON Status:
    • Blue light (ON): Pairing mode activated, linkage communication active between master and slave units.
    • Green light (ON): IoT function enabled, Wi-Fi connected, device controllable via phone.
    • Red light (ON): Filter cleaning alarm.
    • Blue light (flashing slowly): Master role in master-slave mode, IoT networking enabled, unit controllable by user's phone.
    • Green light (flashing slowly): Automatic ventilation function on, free-cooling function on and running.
    • Red light (flashing three times): Filter cleaning complete and time reset.
  • OFF Status (coordinated with the buttons):
    • Blue light (flashing slowly): Indicates device set as master in pairing mode.
    • Green light (flashing slowly): Indicates device set as slave in pairing mode.
    • Red light (flashing slowly): Indicates Wi-Fi connection mode.

Usage Features

Installation: The ventilator is designed for through-the-wall mounting. It features a telescopic air duct with adjustable length.

  1. Hole Drilling: Drill a 170 mm (6"-3/4) round hole in the wall.
  2. Duct Assembly: Assemble the inner and outer ducts to match wall thickness. Insert the outer duct into the wall hole.
  3. Orientation: Adjust the bracket to orient the air inlet/outlet downward according to the external ventilation hood indicator.
  4. Sealing: Pull the mobile bracket back into the outer duct so the silicone ring seals against the outer wall. Fill any space between the wall and outer duct with polyurethane glue.
  5. Mounting Plate: Install the back cover mounting plate, ensuring it is horizontal. Mark holes, punch in expansion rubber grains, and secure with screws.
  6. Inner Duct Insertion: Plug the inner air duct into the hole, ensuring the wire faces down.
  7. Alternative Sealing: If rainwater exposure is not an issue, an accessory silicone seal can be inserted into the outer air duct for waterproofing, eliminating the need for polyurethane glue.

Remote Control: The device can be controlled via an infrared remote control.

  • Fan Speed: Switches between 3 fan speeds.
  • Working Mode: Selects supply, exhaust, or regeneration mode.
  • Negative Ion ON/OFF: Activates/deactivates the negative ion generator (if installed).
  • Indicator Light: Toggles the control indicator light.
  • Fan Boost Mode: Runs the fan at maximum power for 30 minutes.
  • Filter Reset: Resets the filter cleaning timer (default: 720 hours) after replacing the filter (press and hold for 5 seconds).
  • ON/OFF: Turns the device on or off.

Pairing Synchronization Function (Master/Slave):

  • One remote control can manage multiple devices without a master/slave role.
  • With a master/slave role, the remote controls the master unit, which then forwards synchronization signals to slave units.
  • In regeneration mode, the slave fan operates in the opposite direction to the master; in other modes, directions are the same.
  • Maximum communication distance between master and slave is 50 feet, with signal penetration through up to 7-inch thick brick walls.

Master-Slave Unit Settings:

  • Master Unit: In the OFF state, press and hold the fan speed button for 5 seconds until the status indicator blue light flashes slowly. The device enters master-slave linkage mode and is set as the master.
  • Slave Unit: In the OFF state, press and hold the mode button for 5 seconds until the status indicator green light flashes slowly. The device enters master-slave linkage mode and is set as the slave.
  • Pairing: Master and slave units must be set simultaneously within 1 minute, close to each other, for automatic connection. Successful pairing is indicated by a solid blue light on both devices. Failed pairing results in flashing lights for one minute before turning off.
  • Reset/Cancellation: In the OFF state, long press the fan speed button of a linked device for 5 seconds. The device enters master-slave linkage mode, defaults to master, and after a minute, disconnects from the slave, resetting to factory state.
