NOTE
If the green light goes out completely or fails to come on or if the unit
is making unfamiliar audio tunes, the unit is unstable and should not be
used until the battery is recharged or replaced.
If the unit is not to be used for a certain length of time it is advisable to
remove the battery to avoid battery leakage which could cause serious
damage to the detector.
When not in use, the detector should be stored in a dry warm
environment.

Overview

The MD-3003B1 is a high-performance handheld metal detector designed to meet the rigorous requirements of the security industry. Its primary function is to detect hidden metal objects, making it an essential tool for various security applications.

Function Description

The MD-3003B1 is engineered to identify the presence of metal objects. It operates by emitting a detection signal that interacts with metallic items. When metal is detected, the device provides both an audio warning tone and a visual indication via a red LED light. This dual alert system ensures that users are promptly notified of any hidden metallic threats. The detector's sensitivity can be adjusted to suit different operational needs, allowing it to detect a wide range of metal objects, from small items like razor blades to larger ones such as handguns. It also features a low sensitivity mode, which enables the scanner to focus on larger metal objects while ignoring smaller, less significant items like coins or keys. This functionality makes it highly versatile for various security scenarios, including body searches for offensive weapons, crowd control, airport and border security, and checking parcels and letters for concealed metal.

Usage Features

To operate the MD-3003B1, first ensure a 9-volt standard or rechargeable battery is correctly installed in its compartment, matching the +/- symbols. The battery cover slides off for easy access. To power on the unit, push the on/off switch until it clicks and the green LED illuminates, indicating the detector is operational.

For optimal performance, the detector's sensitivity can be fine-tuned. Initially, the red LED may light up and a constant audio tone may be heard if the sensitivity adjuster is set too high. To achieve optimum sensitivity and depth range, turn the sensitivity adjuster (anti-clockwise) until the red LED just goes out and the tone fades. This tuning process ensures the device is calibrated for the best possible detection capability.

During use, hold the unit with the detection face pointed towards the surface to be scanned. Sweep the detector continuously back and forth at a height of 10-30 mm above the area. The presence of metal will trigger an audio warning tone and illuminate the red light. It is crucial to keep the unit in continuous motion while scanning, as holding it still over a metal object will cause the detection signal to automatically reduce.

The MD-3003B1 also offers a low sensitivity operation mode. By pressing the low sensitivity switch during detection, the scanner will only respond to larger metal objects, such as handguns or knives, and will disregard smaller metallic items like coins, keys, or hatpins. This mode is particularly useful when the objective is to identify significant threats without being distracted by minor metal objects. It is important to keep the low sensitivity switch pressed until the low sensitivity detection is complete.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of the MD-3003B1.

Battery Management: The device can be powered by either a standard 9-volt battery or a 9-volt rechargeable battery. If using a rechargeable battery, the detector features a dedicated rechargeable battery socket. It typically takes four to six hours to fully charge the battery. For safety and optimal charging, always turn off the detector when it is being charged.

Storage: When the unit is not in use, it should be stored in a dry, warm environment. This helps protect the internal components from potential damage due to moisture or extreme temperatures.

Long-Term Storage: If the detector will not be used for an extended period, it is advisable to remove the battery. This precaution prevents battery leakage, which can cause serious damage to the detector's internal circuitry and components.

Troubleshooting: The device provides clear indicators for potential issues. If the green light goes out completely or fails to come on, or if the unit emits unfamiliar audio tunes, it indicates that the unit is unstable. In such cases, the detector should not be used until the battery is recharged or replaced. This ensures that the device operates reliably and accurately for security purposes.
