Overview

This document describes the Vektro XL rechargeable pool vacuum, available in models EV90, EV91, and EV95, designed for underwater cleaning of pools and spas.

Function Description:

The Vektro XL is a rechargeable pool vacuum intended for cleaning debris from pool floors. It operates fully immersed in water and collects debris into a filter bag. The device is powered by a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack. It features a switching knob to turn the unit on/off and activate charging mode, with LED indicator lights to show operational status, battery level, and impeller status. The vacuum is designed to pick up debris from the front, sides, and back, filling the filter bag. It is not an all-purpose vacuum cleaner and should only be used for pool cleaning.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Operating Depth: Maximum 3 meters (9.8 ft.).
  • Water Temperature: 5°C (41°F) to 35°C (95°F).
  • Battery Type: Rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack.
  • Charging Time: Approximately 6 hours for a full charge.
  • Operating Time: Up to 75 minutes on a full charge (may vary with debris load and battery age).
  • External Adaptor: Detachable supply unit (models: DSS12D-1351000-B / DSS12D-1351000-C / DSS12D-1351000-D/ LX135100U).
  • Minimum Immersion Depth for Slatted Cover Compartment: 30cm (12in).

Usage Features:

  • Pre-Use Charging: The vacuum must be fully charged for about 6 hours before its first use.
  • Power On/Off and Charging Mode: The switching knob is used to turn the unit on (clockwise) or off/charging mode (anticlockwise). Turning it anticlockwise until it clicks exposes the charging port.
  • LED Indicator Lights:
    • Blue: Power On (ready for operation).
    • Blue - Flash: Battery level is running low.
    • Green: In operation.
    • Green - Flash: Battery level is running low during operation.
    • Green light Off: Battery depleted (needs recharging).
    • Red: Impeller stops (impeller clogged).
    • Charging Indicator (on external adaptor): Red for charging, Green for fully charged.
  • Immersion Requirement: The pool vacuum must be fully immersed in water before initiating operation. Operating it without proper immersion can cause damage and void the warranty.
  • Side Extensions: The vacuum includes removable side extensions, allowing for cleaning of both wide and narrow areas. They are attached by inserting the stem into a hole on the main body, turning, and pressing until a "click" is heard. Disassembly is the reverse process.
  • Telescopic Pole Connection: The device can be attached to a telescopic pole (not included) using a pole connector. For EU & US models, the connector is aligned and inserted into the post, then the pole slides in until secured by pins. For Australia/New Zealand models, the pole connector is inserted, and an internal wishbone clip is pressed to retract side pins, allowing the specific telescopic pole to slide in and lock.
  • Pool Preparation: Before use, ensure the pool liner is in good condition. If using in a saltwater pool, ensure all salt is dissolved.
  • Vacuuming Technique: For effective cleaning, the vacuum should be laid flat on the pool floor and steered back and forth over debris patches.
  • Retrieving the Vacuum: To prevent debris from scattering back into the pool, bring the vacuum poolside and flip it upside down before lifting it out of the water.
  • Automatic Slatted Cover Compartment Cleaning: The vacuum can be used to clean sunken compartments of automatic slatted covers, provided the minimum immersion distance of 30cm (12in) is met. Users should consult their slatted cover manual for safety warnings.

Maintenance Features:

  • Filter Bag Emptying: The filter bag should be emptied regularly to maintain good suction and prevent clogging. It can be released by pressing the cord fastener.
  • Filter Bag Cleaning: The filter bag should be washed with a water jet after each use. For stubborn dirt, it can be machine washed at 30°C (86°F) or gently cleaned with a soft brush.
  • Post-Use Cleaning: After each use, rinse the pool vacuum with fresh water (avoid aggressive detergents) and thoroughly dry the charging port and pins with a cotton bud to prevent stains from chemical reactions.
  • Storage: Store the vacuum in a well-ventilated area, away from sunlight, heat, ignition sources, pool chemicals, and children. The ideal storage temperature is 10°C – 25°C (50°F – 77°F).
  • Battery Maintenance for Storage: Before storing for extended periods, charge the battery to 30%-50% capacity. Recharge the battery every three months when not in use. Do not leave the vacuum charged for over 10 hours.
  • Battery Lifespan: The lithium-ion battery is a consumable item with a limited life, and its capacity will gradually reduce over time.
  • Front Wheels Replacement: The front wheels can be replaced by first detaching the frame. This involves prying and lifting the frame edge, rotating it, and then lifting both ends to detach the frame, allowing access to the damaged wheel.
  • Pole Connector Replacement: The pole connector can be replaced by using pliers to catch the hook at the end, pressing on the hooks, and pushing them inside the hinge hole. The torsion spring will eject, so cover it with a cloth. Pull the pin out with pliers. To reassemble, insert the flat end of the spring into the post hole, align hinges, place the round hook end under the bench, and insert the pin through the spring and opposite hole.
  • Battery Disposal: The battery pack must be removed by an authorized technician and disposed of safely according to local ordinances and regulations. Users are warned not to attempt to disassemble the battery pack themselves due to short-circuit hazards and potential severe burns. Protective gear (eye protection, gloves, clothing) should be worn if handling the battery. Avoid touching wires or metal items to prevent sparking. Do not expose the battery to fire or intense heat. In case of a battery leak, avoid contact with fluids, place the battery in a plastic bag, and seek medical attention if fluids contact skin, clothing, or eyes.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides solutions for common issues such as the cleaner not starting, not capturing debris, detached wheels, long charging times, and charging failures. For issues like a damaged battery or impeller, users are advised to contact their dealer for replacement or further instructions.
  • Environmental Responsibility: The product should be disposed of according to European Union regulations, returning non-working electrical equipment to designated recycling facilities. Removable batteries should be removed before disposal.
