3. Remove the Sod

4. Make the Area Flat and Level
a. Youwillusea2-by-4tohelplevel
thepoolfoundationarea.Choosethe
lengthofstraight 2-by-4youneedfor
yourpoolfromthechartbelow.
b. Adjusttheheightofthestake(A,BorC)thatislocatedatthelowest endofthepool
areabyhammeringitdownuntilitisexactly levelwiththeground.Placeacarpen-
ter’slevelona2-by-4andplacetheboardacrossthethreestakestomakesurethe
topsareexactlylevelwitheachother.Adjusttheothertwostakesdownasneeded.
c.Nailoneendofthe2-by-4tothetop
ofthestakewherethelevelofthe
poolfoundationis lowest.Drillahole
forthenailinthecentre ofthetopof
thestakerstandmaketheholebig
enoughsothenailisalittlelooseand
canberemovedwithoutmovingthe
stake.Markthecentreofthestake
beforeyoudrilltheholebymarking
linesdiagonallyfromoppositecor-
ners(seediagram16).Useanaillong
enoughtoholdtheendofthe2-by-4
tothestakewhileyourotateitina
circle.
Remember:
Yourpoolmustbe
perfectlylevel.Take
thetimeyouneedtobe
sureyourfoundationis
perfectlylevel.
