IMPORTANT: THIS CUTTING MACHINE IS CAPABLE OF AMPUTATING HANDS AND FEET AND THROWING OBJECTS.
FAILURE TO OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
I. GENERAL OPERATION
• Reed,understand,andfollowallinstructionsinthemanual
and onthe machine beforestarting.
• Only allow responsibleadults, who are familiar withthe
instructions,tooperate the machine.
• Clear the area ofobjects suchas rocks,toys, wire, etc.,
whichcould be picked up and thrown by the blade.
• Besure the area isclear ofother people before mowing.
Stop machine ifanyone enters the area.
• Never carrypassengers.
• Do not mow in reverse unless absolutely necessary.
Always lookdown and behind before and whilebacking.
• Beawam ofthe mowerdischargedirectionanddonotpeint
itatanyone. Do notoperate the mowerwithouteitherthe
entire grass catcher orthe guard in place.
• Slowdownbeforetuming.
• Never leave a runningmachine unattended. AIwaystum
off blades, set parkingbrake, stop engine, and remove
keys beforedismounting.
• Turn off blades when notmowing.
• Stopengine beforeremovinggrasscatcher orunclogging
chute.
• Mow only indaylightor goodartificiallight.
• Do notoperate the machine whileunderthe influence of
alcoholordrugs.
• Watch for trafficwhen operating near or crossing road-
ways.
• Useextracarewhen loadingorunlcadingthemachineinto
a traileror truck.
• Dataindicatesthatoperators,age60years andabove, are
involvedin a large percentage of riding mower-related
injuries.These operators shouldevaluate their abilityto
operatethe dding mower safely enough to protectthem-
selvesand othersfrom serious injury.
• Keep machine free of grass, leavesorother debdsbuild-
upwhichcan touch hotexhaust / engine partsand bum.
Do not allow the mower deck to plow leaves
orotherdebriswhich can cause build-upto occur. Clean
any oil or fuel spillage before operating or stodng the
machine. Allow machine to cool before
storage.
II. SLOPE OPERATION
Slopesare a major"factorrelatedto loss-of.controland ltpover
accidents,whichcan resultinsevereinjuryor death. Allslopes
requireextracaution.If youcannotbackupthe slopeorifyoufeel
uneasyonit,de notmowit.
DO:
• Mow upand down slopes, not across.
• Remove obstaclessuch as rocks, tree limbs,etc.
• Watch for holes, ruts, or bumps. Uneven terrain could
overturnthe machine. Tallgrass can hide obstacles.
• Use slow speed. Choose a low geer so that you will not
have to stopor shiftwhile on the slope.
• Follow the manufacturer's recommendationsfor wheel
weightsorcounterweightsto improve stability.
• Use extra care withgrasscatchers or otherattachments.
These can change the stabilityof the machine.
• Keep all movement onthe slopes s/owand gradual Do
notmake sudden changes inspeed ordirection.

• Avoidstartingorstoppingonaslope. Iftiresloeetraction,
disengage theblades and proceed slowlystraightdown
the slope.
DO NOT:
• Do not turn on slopesunless necessary,and then,turn
slowlyand gradually downhill,if possible.
• Do not mow near drop-offs,ditches, or embankments.
The mowercouldsuddenlytum overifawheel isoverthe
edge ofa cliffor ditch, or if an edge caves in.
• Do notmow on wetgrass. Reduced traction couldcause
sliding.
• Donottrytostabilizethemechinebyputtingyourfooton
thegreund.
• Do notuse grass catcher on steep slopes.
IlL CHILDREN
Tragic accidentscan occur if the operatoris not alertto the
presence of children. Children are often attracted to the
machineandthe mowingactivity.Neverassumethat children
willremain where you last sawthem.
• Keep children out of the mowing area and under the
watchfulcare of another responsibleadult.
• Bealert and tum machine off if childrenenter the area.
• Before andwhen bacldng,lookbehindanddownforsmall
children.
• Never carry children. They may fall offand be seriously
injuredorinterferewith safe machineoperation.
• Never allowchildrento operatethe machine.
• Useextra care when approachingblindcomers, shrubs,
trees, or otherobjects that may obscurevision.
IV. SERVICE
• Useextracarein handlinggasolineandotherfuels. They
are flammable and vapors are explosive.
- Use onlyanapproved container.
- Never remove gas cap or add fuel with the engine
running. Allowengine tocoolbeforerefueling. Do not
smoke.
- Never refuel the machine indcors.
- Never storethe machine orfuelcontainer insidewhere
there isan open flame, such as a water heater.
• Never runa machine insideaclosed area.
• Keep nutsand bolts,especially bladeattachment bolts,
tightand keep equipment ingoodcondition.
• Never tamper with safety devices. Check their proper
operationregularly.
• Keep machinefree ofgrass, leaves,orother debrisbuild-
up.Clean oilorfuel spillage.Allowmachine to coolbefore
stodng.
• Stop and inspect the equipment if you stdke an object.
Repair, ifnecessary, before restarting.
• Never make adjustments or repairs with the engine
running.
• Grass catcher componentsare subjecttowear, damage,
and detedoration,which couldexpose moving parts or
allowobjectsto bethrown. Frequentlycheckcompenents
and replace with manufacturer's recommended parts,
when necessary.
• Mowerbladesaresharpandcancut. Wraptheblade(s)
or wear gloves, and use extra caution when servicing
them.
• Check brake operation frequently. Adjust and service
as required.
