  The auto-darkening filter might not darken or could flicker due to several reasons. The front cover lens could be dirty or smoke-covered, in which case you should clean or replace the external lens. Alternatively, the photo sensors may be dirty; remove the external lens and gently wipe the photo sensors clean with a soft, lint-free cloth. Another cause might be that the weld current is too low. If that's the case, select the slow position on the electronic lens and ensure the viewing area isn't obstructed. You may also need to change to high sensitivity on the electronic lens.
