Do you have a question about the Power works ARTEMIS 08PD and is the answer not in the manual?
This document serves as a user manual for the ARTEMIS series of PA speakers and subwoofers, providing essential information for their safe and effective operation. The series includes the ARTEMIS 08PD, 10PD, 12PD, 15PD active PA speakers, and the ARTEMIS 12P SUB, 15P SUB, 18P SUB active subwoofers. Passive versions, ARTEMIS 8, 10, 12, 15 PA speakers and ARTEMIS 12S, 15S, 18S subwoofers, are also covered.
The ARTEMIS series speakers are designed for sound reinforcement applications, offering both full-range PA speakers and dedicated subwoofers. The "PD" models (08PD, 10PD, 12PD, 15PD) are active PA speakers, meaning they have built-in amplifiers and DSP (Digital Signal Processing) capabilities. The "P SUB" models (12P SUB, 15P SUB, 18P SUB) are active subwoofers, also with integrated amplification and DSP. Passive models (ARTEMIS 8, 10, 12, 15, 12S, 15S, 18S) require external amplification.
The active PA speakers feature a backlit LCD display for DSP functions, allowing users to select and modify various system settings. They include multiple input options: two combo XLR / 1/4" sockets for microphone or line level signals, and a 3.5mm jack for connecting line level devices like MP3 or CD players. An XLR chassis plug provides a line output, carrying the combined signal of both inputs, unaffected by the DSP. A rotary control serves as the master volume and also functions as a push button to activate DSP functions. Individual rotary gain controls are provided for each input, allowing adjustment for microphones or line level devices.
The active subwoofers also incorporate a backlit LCD display for DSP control, enabling users to configure system settings. They feature two XLR / TRS combo jacks for input signals and two XLR link outputs for connecting to other audio equipment. A master rotary control manages the overall volume and activates DSP functions when pushed.
All active models are equipped with an IEC socket and fuse holder for power connection, a power switch to turn the unit on or off, and a voltage select switch to match the local mains voltage.
The ARTEMIS speakers are designed for versatile deployment. The active PA speakers (ARTEMIS 8PD, 10PD, 12PD, 15PD) feature a dual-angle stand flange. This allows for two mounting positions: a 0° angle socket (rear position) suitable for standing audiences, and a 7° tilt angle socket (front position) ideal for seated audiences, ensuring optimal sound projection.
The active subwoofers (ARTEMIS 12P SUB, 15P SUB, 18P SUB) and passive subwoofers (ARTEMIS 12S, 15S, 18S) are equipped with dual pole sockets, supporting both 35mm diameter speaker poles and M20 screws. This provides flexibility for mounting full-range speakers on top of the subwoofers.
The integrated LCD DSP control menu on active models offers a user-friendly interface for system configuration. To access the menu, the user pushes and holds the MASTER VOL knob. Once in the menu, turning the MASTER VOL knob scrolls through items, and pushing it selects an item. The focus then shifts to the right side of the screen for parameter adjustment, again using the MASTER VOL knob to scroll and push to confirm. Settings are saved automatically, and the user can exit to the home screen. This allows for fine-tuning of sound characteristics to suit different environments and applications.
For passive models (ARTEMIS 8, 10, 12, 15, 12S, 15S, 18S), connection is made via lockable NL4 mounting connectors, ensuring secure and reliable signal transmission from an external amplifier.
Safety is paramount, and the manual emphasizes several maintenance and safety guidelines. Users are instructed to read the manual carefully and adhere to all safety instructions and warnings. The appliance should only be operated in dry, closed rooms and not near water. It should not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations, heavy mechanical strain, or excessive moisture.
To prevent damage and ensure safety, users are advised not to place liquids or small objects on or near the appliance, as they could fall inside and cause fire or electrocution. In case of liquid or object ingress, the mains plug should be immediately disconnected, and a specialist contacted.
The power plug should always be pulled from the gripping surface, not the cable, and never with damp or wet hands. The mains plug should be disconnected before cleaning, during thunderstorms, or if the appliance will not be used for an extended period (more than one week).
For active models, in case of a fuse burn, the unit must be turned off and disconnected from the AC outlet before replacing the fuse. Only specialists should replace defective mains cables due to the risk of electric shock.
The appliance should never be placed on an unstable or movable surface to prevent injury or damage. When using a rack, it must be stable and securely transported. Condensation water, which can form when moving the appliance from a cold to a warm room, can destroy the appliance or cause electric shock. Therefore, the device should be allowed to reach room temperature and condensation to evaporate before connecting it.
The air vents of the appliance should not be covered, and air circulation should not be obstructed, to prevent overheating. Only qualified and trained personnel should operate, install, and service the appliance. Unauthorized conversions or modifications are not permitted. The packaging material should be disposed of carefully to avoid becoming a hazard for children. If there are doubts about correct connection, operating principles, or product safety, users are encouraged to contact support or a specialist.
