Overview

The PowerCare 10 cu. ft. Steel Dump Cart (Item # 1004 795 034, Model # YTL-007-520) is a robust and versatile utility cart designed for various hauling and dumping tasks around the home, garden, or farm. Its primary function is to transport and efficiently dump materials such as soil, gravel, mulch, tools, and other debris. The cart is intended for use with approved towing vehicles like lawn/garden tractors and ATVs.

Technical Specifications:

  • Capacity: 10 cubic feet (cu. ft.)
  • Load Rating: 400 lbs (182 kg)
  • Construction: Steel dump cart
  • Wheel Axle: Includes a wheel axle (I)
  • Wheels: Two wheels (H) with Ø16 flat washers (FF) and Ø3 R pins (GG) for secure attachment.
  • Tire Pressure: Recommended tire pressure is 25 PSI.
  • Hitch System: Features a hitch tongue assembly (B) with a release pedal (AF) for dumping, hitch pin brackets (J), and a hitch pin (II) for connecting to a towing vehicle.
  • Fasteners: Utilizes various screws (M6x16, M8x30, M8x16, M6x90), lock washers (Ø6, Ø8), hex nuts (M6, M8, M6 hex lock nut), wing nuts (M6), R pins (Ø3), and cotter pins (Ø2x25).

Usage Features:

  • Dumping Mechanism: The cart incorporates a release pedal (AF) that, when pressed, allows the bed to tilt and dump its contents. A protrusion on the tongue assembly aligns with a hole on the tongue support, and the release pedal is pulled back to lock the protrusion in place, enabling the dumping action. A Ø3 R Pin (GG) can be inserted into a safety pin on the hitch tongue to lock the tongue support, which must be pulled out before emptying the bed.
  • Towing Compatibility: Designed to be towed by approved vehicles such as lawn/garden tractors and ATVs. The hitch pin (II) secures the cart to the vehicle's hitch.
  • Assembly: The manual provides a detailed step-by-step assembly guide, starting with attaching the axle support, then the tongue support, wheels, side panels, front panel, corner plates, U-frame, and rear panel. Hardware is clearly listed for each step.
  • Safety Guidelines:
    • Load Limits: Do not exceed the rated capacity of 400 lbs (182 kg). Overfilling can lead to loss of traction and skidding.
    • Secure Attachment: Always ensure the cart is securely locked to the vehicle hitch before operation.
    • Approved Vehicles: Only use approved towing vehicles.
    • Towing Speed: Never exceed 10 mph when towing.
    • Maneuvering: Avoid sharp turns to prevent tires from rubbing against the cart. Slow down before turning. Back up in a straight line to avoid "jack-knifing."
    • Box Position: Never tow the cart with the box raised.
    • Operator Weight: The combined weight of the tow vehicle and operator must be greater than the cart's load for proper control.
    • Public Roads: Do not use the cart on public highways or roads.
    • Personal Safety: Always wear safety gear, eye protection, gloves, and work boots when operating. Keep hands and feet clear from moving parts.
    • Children: Do not allow children to play on, stand upon, or climb in the cart.
    • Pre-Operation Check: Inspect the cart before each use for good working condition. Replace or repair damaged parts immediately. Ensure all hardware is tightened.
    • Terrain: Be careful when operating on steep grades; the cart may tip over. Operate at reduced speeds on rough terrain, along creeks, ditches, and on hillsides. Avoid personal injury and/or equipment damage.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Clean material out of the cart box after each use.
    • Rinse and dry the inside and outside of the dump cart after each use.
    • Never allow material to remain in the cart for extended periods.
    • Before storing, ensure the cart is clean and dry.
  • Lubrication: Annually clean and lightly lubricate parts. Regularly grease the axle and wheel bearing area as needed.
  • Fastener Checks: Periodically check all fasteners for tightness.
  • Tire Maintenance: Before operating, ensure tires have the recommended pressure of 25 PSI.
  • Cosmetic Repair: Use a glossy enamel spray paint to touch up scratched or worn painted metal surfaces.
  • Part Replacement: If a part needs replacement, only use parts that meet the manufacturer's specifications to ensure safety and proper operation.
  • Storage:
    • Store indoors or in a protected area during severe weather and winter months.
    • When storing outside, keep the tongue slightly higher than the back of the cart to allow moisture to drain and prevent accumulation in the box.

The PowerCare 10 cu. ft. Steel Dump Cart is designed for durability and ease of use, providing a reliable solution for transporting and dumping various materials while emphasizing user safety and proper maintenance for long-term performance.
