Why won't my Powersmart PS90 split logs?
    • D
Dr. Sara Petty DDSJul 29, 2025
If your Powersmart Log Splitter isn't splitting logs, first ensure your extension cord is a 10 or 12 AWG gauge and no longer than 25 feet. Check that the log is correctly positioned on the worktable. If the log is too large, hard, or dense for the splitter's capacity, reduce its size. Also, make sure the splitting wedge is sharp. Ensure the bleed screw is loosened one or two turns to release trapped air in the hydraulic tank, and verify the hydraulic fluid level is adequate. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the maximum pressure limiting adjustment setting may have changed, and you should contact customer service at (800)791-9458.

What to do if my Powersmart Log Splitter is leaking hydraulic fluid?
    • A
      Anthony SextonAug 7, 2025
If you notice hydraulic fluid leaking from your Powersmart Log Splitter, ensure the bleed screw is tightened, especially after transport. If the bleed screw wasn't loosened before operation, loosen it one or two turns to release trapped air. Check the fluid drain bolt and tighten it with a hex wrench if it's loose. If the leak persists, the hydraulic control valve assembly or seals may be worn, in which case you should contact customer service at (800)791-9458.

How to fix jerky push rod movement on Powersmart Log Splitter?
    • A
      Amy GomezAug 18, 2025
If the push rod movement on your Powersmart Log Splitter is jerky or producing unfamiliar noises or vibrations, the hydraulic fluid level may be low. Check the fluid level and refill as needed. Also, there may be air in the hydraulic system; try loosening the bleed screw one or two rotations to release any trapped air.
