Overview

This document describes the ECO SW Series of Pure Sine Wave Inverters/Chargers, available in models ranging from 1.5KW to 6KW. These inverters are designed for important equipment requiring backup power when the utility grid is unstable or absent. They feature a high-precision DSP control chip, precise detection circuits, advanced control technology, and a modular design for easy installation and maintenance. An intelligent temperature-regulating fan ensures efficient heat dissipation, extending the system's life. The output is stable, clean, and provides a pure sine wave. The fast transfer time between Line to Inverter or Inverter to Line makes these units suitable for backing up computers or sensitive electronic devices.

Function Description:

The ECO SW Series inverters offer four primary working modes:

  1. Mains Priority (01): When mains power is available, the inverter supplies power to the load and charges the battery. If mains power is out of range, the battery supplies power. Users can configure whether mains power charges the battery (Parameter PC). If an external charger is connected and the AC charger is off, the inverter restarts when the battery voltage reaches the Battery restoring setting (PN).
  2. Energy Saving Mode (02): In battery mode, if the output load is less than 1%-10% (default 10%, set by P7) of the inverter's capacity, the AC output on DC mode turns off. The inverter restarts every 15 seconds to check if the load exceeds the set percentage. If it does, normal output resumes. This feature reduces battery discharge when main loads are off, extending backup time and preventing unnecessary battery drain.
  3. Battery Priority Mode (03): The battery supplies power to the load. When battery voltage drops below the set level (voltage set by PA), mains power supplies the load. Once battery voltage is restored, the battery resumes supplying power. Charging depends on the PC setting.
  4. Unattended Mode (04): This mode allows the MCU to remain active longer, waiting for AC power to return, reducing user intervention. Combined with activated multiple Overloads setting (F9=ON), this mode is suitable for applications where the user is distant from the inverter. The inverter automatically turns on when connected to mains or if battery voltage is normal (not for first-time use). If battery voltage falls below the F4 setting (minimum battery voltage), internal power turns off, and the inverter only turns on when mains power returns or is manually activated. Charging depends on the PC setting.
  5. Solar Priority Mode (05) (for inverters with internal MPPT Charger): Similar to Mode 03, but manages both the internal MPPT Charger and the Inverter. When battery voltage is normal, the inverter automatically turns on and supplies power from the battery. If the battery has low voltage (PL setting), the inverter shuts down. If the battery discharges to low voltage shutdown (PL setting) a second time, the inverter enters standby, waiting for mains power or the solar charger to recharge the battery. When battery voltage is restored (PN setting), the inverter automatically turns on. If battery voltage is lower than the F4 setting, the inverter turns off and only turns ON when mains power returns or manually. In this mode, the solar charger and AC charger combine to supply charging current. The solar charger is the main charger, and the AC charger supplements to reach the Max Charging amps setting (P5).

Maintenance Features:

  • Low Maintenance: The inverters are designed for low maintenance, especially with valve-regulated lead-acid batteries. They provide overcharge and over-discharge protection when connected to mains.
  • Battery Charging: If not used for a long time, batteries should be charged every 4-6 months for 4-6 hours. In high-temperature areas, auto-discharge occurs in about two months, requiring charging for at least 10 hours.
  • Battery Replacement: Battery life is typically 3-5 years. If a battery problem occurs, it must be replaced early by professionals. It is recommended to replace all batteries simultaneously, following safety instructions.
  • Safety Notes for Battery Maintenance:
    • Remove all power supplies (mains, battery, solar modules) before replacing the battery.
    • Do not wear metal objects (rings, watches).
    • Do not place tools or other metal objects on the battery.
    • A small spark when connecting the battery is normal.
    • Do not reverse battery positive and negative terminals.
    • Pay attention to battery polarity when assembling the battery bank.
  • Installation Recommendations:
    • Must be performed by a Certified Electrician.
    • Maintain a minimum 30 cm clearance from walls for ventilation.
    • Place in a well-ventilated area, free of humidity, flammables, or corrosive gases.
    • Avoid corners, side placement, or upside-down orientation.
    • Keep away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
    • Ensure front, rear, and fan inlets have good clearances.
    • Operating temperature: 0°C to 40°C.
    • If used in low temperatures, ensure the device is dry before operation to avoid electric shock.
    • Install near the main breaker box for easy disconnection.
    • External battery should be in a ventilated cabinet, not exposed to sun or water.
    • Keep the distance between inverter and battery as short as possible.
    • Do not place objects on the inverter that obstruct ventilation.
    • Ensure loads are off before wiring to the inverter, then turn them on one by one.
    • Connect to an electric box with overcurrent protection and ensure safe grounding.
    • If connected to an outlet, ensure it is safely grounded.
    • Turning off the inverter does not guarantee internal parts are de-energized.
    • Consider inductive loads (motors, AC compressors) that demand up to three times their normal consumption when dimensioning inverter capacity.
  • Wire Sizing: Tables are provided for recommended wire gauges (AWG) based on wire length (<5 feet, <10 feet, <20 feet) and model, along with maximum and nominal voltage drops.
  • AC Wire Gauge Recommended: Chart indicates recommended AC wire gauge for wire lengths up to 20 feet for different inverter models and voltages (120V, 220V, 230V), including recommended input breaker sizes.
