This document describes the Prima Built-in Ceramic Hob, available in models PRCEH104 and PRCEH106. It covers the function, usage, and maintenance of the appliance, emphasizing safety warnings and proper installation procedures.
The Prima Built-in Ceramic Hob is designed for domestic cooking. It features multiple heating zones that provide heat for various cooking tasks, from warming up to fast frying. The hob is intended to be integrated into a heat-resistant cabinet, offering a sleek and modern look to the kitchen. The PRCEH104 model uses traditional switch knobs for heat control, while the PRCEH106 model incorporates touch controls with visual displays for a more contemporary user experience. Both models are equipped with safety features such as residual heat indicators and an automatic safety cut-off to prevent overheating or accidental prolonged operation.
General Operation: Before initial use, it's important to read the instruction manual carefully. The appliance should only be installed by a qualified person. When first used, some smoking may occur as excess sealant burns off; this is normal and will subside after a short period.
Switching On and Setting Power (PRCEH106 - Touch Control): To switch on the hob, press the ON/OFF button. The hob will beep once, and all cooking zone indicators will light up briefly, signaling stand-by mode. Within one minute, select the desired cooking zone by pressing its select button. Then, use the up and down buttons to set the required heat level from 1 to 9. Holding down these buttons will adjust the value up or down. If the power displayed is 0, pressing the down button will set the power to 9.
Switching On and Setting Power (PRCEH104 - Knob Control): For the PRCEH104 model, heat levels are adjusted by turning the corresponding knobs clockwise or anti-clockwise. There are 9 positions in addition to the 0 (off) position. Higher numerical indices correspond to maximum heat output. When using rapid tops, a thermostat automatically reduces power once the selected temperature is reached, allowing the top to operate intermittently to maintain a constant cooking temperature. An orange pilot light on the control panel indicates when the electric elements are switched on.
Switching Off the Ceramic Hob: For touch-controlled models, the hob can be switched off at any time by pressing the ON/OFF button. Alternatively, for both models, setting the heat level to 0 using the up/down buttons or turning the knob to 0 will switch off the hob. After a zone is switched off, a flashing "H" (residual heat indicator) will appear on the display, indicating that the zone's temperature is above 60°C and still hot enough to cause injury. This "H" will disappear when the temperature drops below 60°C, but caution is still advised as the surface may still be warm. The residual heat indicator will disappear if the mains supply to the product is cut.
Locking the Ceramic Hob (PRCEH106 - Touch Control): To lock the hob, press the safety lock button while the appliance is switched on. This disables all buttons on the control panel except the ON/OFF button. To disable the safety lock, press the safety lock button again.
Timer Function (PRCEH106 - Touch Control): The hob includes a timer that can be set from 1 to 99 minutes for each cooking zone. To use the timer, select the cooking zone and its heat level. Then, press the timer button and use the up and down buttons to set the countdown time. The timer display will increase or decrease in 1-minute increments. At the end of the countdown, a buzzer will sound, and the relevant cooking zone will switch off.
Safety Cut-Off: If a cooking zone is accidentally left on, a safety cut-off will activate after a certain period. The duration depends on the set power level for that zone. For example, power levels 1-2 have a 6-hour limit, while levels 6-9 have a 1.5-hour limit. If multiple zones are operating and one reaches its safety cut-off point, only that specific zone will switch off.
Pan Selection: Using an appropriately selected pan saves energy and prolongs the life of the ceramic tops. Pans should have a thick, flat base with a diameter equal to or no less than the plate diameter for efficient heat transfer. Avoid spilling fluids on the ceramic plates. Never leave the tops on without pans, with empty pans, or use them to heat plates. Always switch on the elements after placing pans on them. After switching off, the elements remain warm for a while, so avoid touching them. Switch off the heating element before removing the pans.
Cleaning the Ceramic Hob: Before any maintenance or cleaning, disconnect the power supply. A steam cleaner must not be used for cleaning the appliance. For daily cleaning, use a soft cloth and a suitable cleaning product. For stubborn stains, use a specific ceramic hob cleaner. After cleaning, wipe the hob with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. For burnt-on food residues, use a scraper for ceramic hobs. Hold the scraper at an angle and scrape off the residue. Be careful not to scratch the glass surface. Avoid using abrasive sponges, abrasive powders, abrasive stone, wire brushes, or other harsh cleaning agents as they can damage the hob surface. For cleaning the frame, use a soft cloth with a little warm water and a suitable cleaning product. Dry thoroughly to prevent water stains.
General Care: Regularly check the condition of the hob and its components. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard. Dispose of the appliance and packaging materials in an environmentally friendly manner. Do not modify the wiring under any circumstances. The manufacturer declines all responsibility for damage resulting from improper and irresponsible use.
