Technical Information

Overview

This document describes a dishwasher, providing comprehensive instructions for its function, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The dishwasher is designed for automatic dishwashing, utilizing specialized detergents and rinse aids to ensure thorough cleaning and spot-free drying. It operates through various wash cycles tailored to different levels of soiling, from light to heavy. The appliance features upper and lower baskets for loading dishes, a cutlery tray, and dedicated dispensers for detergent and rinse aid. Its core function involves circulating heated water and cleaning agents to remove food particles and grime, followed by rinsing and drying phases. The rinse aid, automatically dispensed during the final rinse, prevents water droplets from forming spots and streaks, enhancing drying performance. The dishwasher is equipped with a filtering system to trap food remnants and debris, preventing them from recirculating and potentially clogging the pump. Safety features include a child lock to prevent unintended operation and warnings against opening the door during a wash cycle due to hot water.

Usage Features

Before initial use, it is crucial to fill the rinse aid dispenser and understand the function of detergent. The rinse aid dispenser has an optical level indicator to show the remaining amount, prompting refills when necessary. Users can adjust the rinse aid dosage to optimize drying and prevent streaks or film on dishes. For detergent, the dispenser has markings for main wash and pre-wash cycles, with specific recommendations for dosage based on soiling level and water hardness. Concentrated detergents and detergent tablets are supported, though longer programs are recommended for tablets to ensure complete dissolution.

Loading the dishwasher baskets correctly is essential for optimal performance. Dishes should be placed upside down or at a slant to allow water to drain, and items should be stacked securely without obstructing the spray arms. Sharp items, especially knives, should be loaded with handles up or horizontally to prevent injuries. Very small items should not be washed in the dishwasher to avoid them falling out of the baskets. The upper basket's height can be adjusted to accommodate larger items in either basket. The lower basket features folding racks for easier loading of pots and pans.

Operating the dishwasher involves selecting a wash program using the program button, with options like Intensive, Heavy, Normal, Rapid, and Soak. A delay time can be set before a program starts. The Start/Pause button initiates or temporarily stops a cycle. An indicator light signals when the rinse aid dispenser needs refilling. If a program needs to be changed mid-cycle, it can be canceled by pressing the program button for several seconds, provided the detergent has not yet been released. The dishwasher also has a drying light to indicate when the drying phase is active.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is key to the dishwasher's longevity and performance. The filtering system, consisting of a coarse filter, flat filter, and micro filter, should be inspected and cleaned after each wash to remove trapped food particles. The filters can be easily removed by contrarotating and lifting them. The spray arms also require regular cleaning to prevent clogging from hard water chemicals. They can be unscrewed, washed with soapy water, and cleaned with a soft brush.

For external cleaning, the control panel should be wiped with a lightly dampened cloth, and the exterior can be cleaned with appliance polish wax. Abrasive cleaners or sharp objects should be avoided to prevent damage to surfaces. The door edges should be cleaned with a soft, warm, damp rag, taking care not to let water penetrate the door lock or electrical components.

If the dishwasher is to be left in an unheated place during winter, specific steps are recommended to protect it from freezing: disconnecting electrical power, turning off and disconnecting the water supply, draining water from the inlet pipe and valve, and removing the filter from the tub to absorb remaining water. For periods of holiday, it is advised to run an empty wash cycle, remove the plug, turn off the water supply, and leave the door slightly ajar to prevent odors and prolong seal life. Periodic cleaning of the seals with a damp sponge is also recommended to prevent food residue buildup and odors.
