Do you have a question about the Projoy Electric PEEM-S100 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The PEEM-S100 DTU (Data Transfer Unit) is a communication device designed for grid-tied solar power applications, specifically those that do not permit electricity export to the public power grid. It serves as a central component in a system that includes Projoy Microinverters and the M-Cloud monitoring system, ensuring safe and controlled energy management.

Function Description

The primary function of the PEEM-S100 DTU is to monitor and control the output of Projoy microinverters to prevent electricity from being fed back into the public grid. In a typical setup, solar panels generate DC electricity, which is then converted to AC electricity by the microinverters. This AC electricity is used to reduce the load pressure on the grid by supplying power directly to the local loads.

The DTU connects to the same Wi-Fi network as the microinverters and the home Wi-Fi router. It continuously monitors the AC power grid parameters using a Current Transformer (CT). If the DTU detects any power being exported to the public power grid, it communicates locally with the microinverters to reduce their output power, thereby preventing grid feedback. This ensures compliance with regulations in regions where grid export is not allowed.

The system also integrates with the M-Cloud monitoring system, allowing users to monitor the power generation of their solar system via a dedicated M-Cloud Home App. The microinverters are equipped with Wi-Fi modules for direct connection to the home router, facilitating seamless data flow to the monitoring platform.

Important Technical Specifications

The PEEM-S100 DTU operates with a single-phase grid type and an input AC voltage of 230V. The input AC frequency is 50/60 Hz, and the maximum current per phase is 100A. Its power consumption per phase is less than 1W, indicating high energy efficiency.

For communication, the DTU utilizes Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) with a frequency range of 2400MHz-2483.5MHz. The maximum distance to a router in an open space is 100m. It also supports Bluetooth 5.0, operating within the 2400MHz-2483.5MHz frequency range, with a maximum distance to a mobile phone in open space of 50m. The DTU can connect to up to 28 microinverters and communicates with the server and microinverters within 300 seconds.

The device includes an external antenna for Wi-Fi, with a cable length of 2m. It supports one external CT with a cable length of 2m and a CT type of Φ16mm.

Physically, the DTU has dimensions of 36 * 90 * 90 mm and weighs 130g. It is designed to operate in an ambient temperature range of -20 to +55°C. The mounting system is rail-mounted (35mm). It features one LED indicator light and can operate at altitudes less than 2000m. The relative humidity for operation is 0 - 95%, non-condensing.

The PEEM-S100 DTU complies with Directive 2014/53/EU, indicating its adherence to radio equipment regulations. The operating frequency for 2412MHz-2472MHz (EIRP <20dBm) and 2402MHz-2480MHz (EIRP <10dBm) are specified.

Usage Features

The PEEM-S100 DTU is designed for ease of installation and configuration. It is installed on the rails of an AC distribution box, with simple connections for the L and N cables, and the CT cable. The CT cable direction is crucial and must be pointed towards the grid side to ensure correct power measurement.

A key usage feature is the integration with the M-Cloud Home App. After physical installation, users connect the Wi-Fi antenna to the DTU, positioning it outside the distribution box for optimal signal. The DTU is then added to the M-Cloud Home App by scanning its SN label.

The app provides a user-friendly interface for setting the power limit function. Users can access the meter setting page, enable the export limit, specify the desired limit power (in Watts), and select the microinverters to be controlled. This allows for precise management of power output to prevent grid export. Once confirmed, the device list in the app will display the status and relationship of the connected devices.

Maintenance Features

Routine maintenance of the PEEM-S100 DTU is crucial for its longevity and safe operation. Only authorized personnel are permitted to perform maintenance and report anomalies. Personal protective equipment must always be used during maintenance.

During normal operation, it's important to check that environmental and logistic conditions are appropriate, ensuring the equipment is not exposed to adverse weather or covered by foreign objects. If any problems are found, the equipment should not be used until the fault is corrected.

The firmware version can be checked through the monitoring system. Before any servicing, the AC branch circuit must be de-energized. Users are explicitly warned against attempting to dismantle the DTU or perform internal repairs, as this can compromise safety and insulation. All repairs should be carried out using genuine spare parts.

For storage, the equipment should be correctly packed and stored in well-ventilated indoor areas free from elements that could damage its components. A complete inspection is recommended when restarting the device after prolonged storage.

Regarding recycling and disposal, the DTU is classified as residential waste, and users must follow local regulations for proper collection and recycling. Component parts can be environmentally harmful, so proper disposal is mandatory.

The product comes with a warranty service, which covers products installed and commissioned by authorized and licensed installers. The warranty is subject to conditions such as the product's original serial number and rating labels being intact and visible. It does not cover damages from transport, improper installation, or unauthorized modifications. The distributor is responsible for working with the Projoy Service Centre to address equipment failures, requiring an invoice and date of purchase for service.
