PRS-812 Resistance Meter
AUTO Mode 1: Auto Exponenal Display 1.0EXX plus Ω indicators
AUTO Mode 2: Auto Display in Ω, KΩ, MΩ, GΩ and TΩ indicators
AUTO Mode 1 is the default funconal mode when the PRS-812 is powered up. To change to AUTO
Mode 2, simply press the MODE buon once. The modes are used in measurements
where the following aributes are desired:
→ Automac Test Voltage selecon and control from 0.01 to 100 volts
→ Automac resistance scale control from 0.1 ohm to 1.0x10

ohms (200 TΩ)
→ Automac Electricaon Period ming based on the instrument’s measurement capabili-
es and industry standards for measurement of ESD controlled materials.
In AUTOMATIC Modes, the PRS-812 performs the following funcons during the Measurement Test
Cycle once the buon is pressed:
1. Resets the to minimum, i.e., 0.1Ω
2. Sets to <10 volts (millivolts), and applies inial voltage to material under test
3. Resets the mer to 0 seconds, then starts mer
4. During Measurement Test Cycle:
a. Automacally adjusts in accordance with material resisve characteris-
cs
b. Automacally adjusts in accordance with material resisve characteriscs
and industry standards
c. Automacally adjusts in accordance with material resisve char-
acteriscs and industry standards
5. At compleon of Test Cycle, displays and nal resistance measurement, test voltage,
order of magnitude (LED), analog scale & mulplier, and electricaon me at end of electri-
caon period.
D. General Automac Mode Procedures
1. Aach the desired test leads to the xture, electrodes or points to be measured
The standard Prostat 10 foot test leads are intended for measurements up to
the 10

ohm range. This is the maximum range of the PRS-812 for precision
resistance measurements
2. Slide the Baery Buss Cut O to the posion. This connects the 9V baeries to the instru-
ment’s circuitry.
