8 Working
8.1 AUTOClean - Cleaning the
main lter
To maintain a constant suction power when
extracting ne dust, you can adjust the
frequency of the automatic [1-7] cleaning
system in in nite variables using the rotary
knob. Always use the automatic cleaning
system in combination with a disposal bag
(in line with dust class ‘M’ requirements).
Always use a lter bag when the cleaning
function is switched off (except for when
wet vacuuming).
Before performing wet extraction
tasks or working with a lter bag, set
the rotary knob to position 0.
For large amounts of dust, optimum opera-
tion is only possible if dedusting is switched
on.
Manual cleaning
If the suction power decreases, clean-
ing can be started manually by turn-
ing the switch [1-9] to the AC symbol
positioned on either side of the switch.
We recommend cleaning the main lter
completely if severely clogged:
Set the suction power adjuster [1-8] to the
maximum setting.
Cover the end of the nozzle or suction hose
with your hand for 10 seconds.
Turn the switch to the [1-9] AC symbol.
In intensive applications that generate ad-
herent dust, it may be necessary to clean
the lter element mechanically under cer-
tain circumstances (extract). Wear a dust
mask!
8.2 Extracting dry materials
CAUTION
Hazardous dust
Damage to the respiratory passage
Use a lter or disposal bag when extract-
ing hazardous materials!
Do not use the machine if the volumetric
ow monitoring function is inactive.
Observe the following when extracting
dust generated by operating electric power
tools:
If the exhaust air is discharged back into
the room, the air renewal rate L within
the room must be suf cient. The volume of
air discharged back into the room must not
exceed 50% of the fresh air volume ow
(room volume V
R
x air renewal rate L
W
).
Observe all the relevant regional regula-
tions.
Remember: A moist main filter clogs
more quickly when extracting dry materi-
als. Therefore, dry the main lter before
extracting dust or replace the damp lter
with a dry one.
7.8 Volumetric ow monitoring
An acoustic warning signal sounds if the air speed in the suction hose falls below 20 m/s
(for dust class M only).
Possible causes Solution
Value set on the suction power adjuster
[1-8] is too low.
Set the suction power adjuster to a higher
value (see Chapter 7.3).
The rotary knob [1-10] is not set to the
hose diameter setting (only for dust
class M).
Set the correct hose diameter.
Suction hose blocked or kinked. Remove blockage or kink.
Filter bag/disposal bag full. Insert a new lter bag (see Chapter 7.6).
Filter element clogged. Clean lter element (see Chapter 8.1).
Change the lter element (see Chapter 9.1).
Monitoring electronics malfunction. Send to a PROTOOL service workshop for
repair.
Wet extraction. Functional reliability not affected, no
actions required.
