The Pure Contour 200i Air is a versatile audio system designed to play music from various sources, including Apple devices, iTunes, and auxiliary inputs, with the added convenience of wireless connectivity via AirPlay. It serves as a high-quality speaker system that can be integrated into a home network for streaming audio.
The Contour 200i Air primarily functions as an AirPlay-enabled speaker, allowing users to stream audio wirelessly from iTunes on a computer or from an iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad. It also acts as a docking station for Apple devices, providing both audio playback and charging capabilities. Additionally, it features an auxiliary input for connecting other audio devices and a digital output for integration with external hi-fi systems.
The device supports three power modes: On, Standby, and Sleep. In "On" mode, it is fully operational. "Standby" uses minimal power, indicated by a bright red Status LED. "Sleep" mode keeps the device connected to the wireless network while waiting for an audio source, with a dimmed red Status LED. The Contour 200i Air automatically enters Sleep mode after 15 minutes of inactivity from AirPlay or a docked device.
To begin, the Contour 200i Air needs to be connected to a wireless or wired network. For wireless setup, the device can be positioned within range of a wireless network and powered on. The Status LED will flash red while the temporary wireless network starts up, then flash green and blue when ready for connection.
There are two primary methods for wireless connection:
http://192.168.1.12. From the "Connection" tab, users can select their wireless network, enter the security key, and connect. The Status LED will flash red during reboot and then dim red in Sleep mode. For a wired connection, an Ethernet cable can be connected from the Contour's Ethernet port to a router. The device will then be ready to stream music via AirPlay with a wired connection once the Status LED stops flashing red and enters Sleep mode.
The Contour 200i Air comes with a remote control that provides comprehensive control over its functions:
The Setup Manager, accessible via a web browser, allows users to configure various settings:
The Contour 200i Air supports automatic firmware updates delivered via Wi-Fi when the device is in Standby or Sleep mode. A static amber Status LED indicates that the device is checking for or installing a new firmware version. Firmware updates typically take six to eight minutes. It is crucial not to power off the Contour during an update, as the Status LED will be amber, and controls will be non-functional. Manual firmware updates can also be initiated through the Setup Manager's "Update" tab (only visible when accessing from a PC or Mac).
The manual provides hints and tips for common issues:
The device should be cleaned only with a dry cloth. It should not be exposed to water or moisture, heat sources, or installed in confined spaces that impede ventilation. Objects filled with liquids, such as vases, should not be placed on the apparatus. The remote control batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat.
The product should not be treated as household waste. Instead, it should be handed over to a suitable collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment to prevent potential negative environmental and health consequences.
