Overview

The PurSteam Professional Grade Steam Iron, Model No: PSSI-01, is designed to provide efficient and effective garment care. This steam iron is engineered for professional-grade performance, offering a range of features to simplify the ironing process and ensure excellent results.

Function Description

The primary function of the PurSteam iron is to remove wrinkles from fabrics using a combination of heat and steam. It operates as a versatile tool for both dry ironing and steam ironing, catering to various fabric types and garment needs. The iron's core mechanism involves heating a soleplate to a desired temperature, which, when combined with steam, relaxes fabric fibers to smooth out creases.

The iron incorporates a "Burst of Steam" function, which delivers a powerful shot of steam to tackle stubborn wrinkles or to create sharp creases. This feature is particularly useful for thicker fabrics or areas requiring intense steam penetration. Additionally, a "Spray Setting" allows for a fine mist of water to be applied to garments, aiding in wrinkle removal, especially for fabrics that benefit from dampening before ironing.

For garments that are difficult to iron horizontally, the "Vertical Steam" function enables users to steam hanging clothes, curtains, or tapestries. This feature leverages the burst of steam while holding the iron upright, offering convenience for items that cannot be laid flat on an ironing board.

Safety is a key aspect of the PurSteam iron's design, featuring a "3-Way Auto-Off" mechanism. This safety switch automatically turns off the iron if it remains stationary for a certain period: 30 seconds horizontally, 8 minutes vertically, or 30 seconds if tipped over. This prevents potential hazards and conserves energy. The temperature indicator light flashes green to signal this auto-off state until the iron is unplugged.

The iron also includes an "Anti-Drip System" to prevent water from leaking onto garments, especially when ironing at lower temperatures. This system automatically adjusts the steam volume to avoid dripping, ensuring a clean and stain-free ironing experience. A "Self-Cleaning" feature is integrated to maintain the iron's internal components, removing scale and impurities to prolong its lifespan and ensure consistent performance.

Usage Features

Using the PurSteam iron involves a straightforward process designed for user convenience. Before first use, it is essential to read the instructions and safety guidelines carefully and remove any protective foil from the soleplate. It is normal for a small amount of smoke to be produced during the initial use, which quickly dissipates. To prevent damage to clothes from dust or dirt that may have accumulated in the iron during storage, it is recommended to iron an old cloth first, testing both the spray and burst of steam functions.

For steam ironing, the iron must first be unplugged. The steam switch should be slid entirely to the left, and the water inlet cover opened. The iron is then held upright, and the water tank filled with water (without additives) up to the "Max" level using the provided filling cup. After closing the cover, the iron can be plugged in. If additional water is needed during ironing, the iron must be unplugged, and the filling process repeated. It is crucial to ensure the iron is fully reheated, indicated by the temperature indicator light turning green, before resuming ironing.

Selecting the appropriate temperature is vital for effective and safe ironing. The iron should be placed upright on its heel on a stable surface, and the power cord inserted into an electrical socket. The temperature control dial is then set according to the fabric type being ironed, referring to the garment's label. For delicate fabrics, a test on a hidden part of the garment is recommended. The desired temperature is reached when the temperature indicator light turns green. This light will intermittently switch between red and green to show that the selected temperature is being maintained.

The steam control switch regulates the amount of continuous steam. To use this feature, ensure there is water in the tank and the temperature indicator light is green. The steam output can then be set or turned off using the switch. Continuous steam is emitted only when the iron is held horizontally and the temperature control dial is set within the appropriate range. To stop steam release, the iron can be stood on its heel or the steam control switch slid to the left. It is important not to use the steam function for silk and synthetics to avoid fabric damage.

The spray function is available at any temperature setting. After ensuring water is in the tank, aim the spray nozzle towards the garment and press the spray button slowly for a jet or quickly for a mist. This function should not be used on silk and synthetics.

The burst of steam function is used to remove stubborn wrinkles or create sharp creases. With water in the tank and the indicator light green, press the burst of steam button firmly for a strong steam flow. A minimum of 4 seconds should be allowed between bursts. This function is also restricted to specific temperature settings and should not be used on silk and synthetics.

For dry ironing, the steam control switch should be slid entirely to the left, and the temperature control dial set to the desired fabric type. The iron is ready when the temperature indicator light turns green. Dry ironing can be performed with an empty tank to prevent drips, or with water already in the tank.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the PurSteam iron. Before any cleaning, the iron must be unplugged from the wall outlet and allowed to cool down completely.

For general cleaning, when the iron is cold and unplugged, it can be wiped with a damp cloth and then dried. Household cleaners or solvents should never be used, as they can damage the appliance.

If the iron has been stored for an extended period, such as several weeks, the steam channels may accumulate deposits. To clean these, hold the iron horizontally and allow it to produce steam for about one minute before use. Activating the burst of steam button several times during this process can help clear any blockages.

The stainless steel soleplate of the PurSteam iron has non-stick properties and can be easily cleaned when cold. If a sticky coating develops due to starch, detergent buildup, or burnt synthetic fibers, it can be removed using a quality hot iron soleplate cleaner available at most stores. Abrasive household cleaners or cleaning pads should be avoided to prevent scratching the soleplate. To further protect the soleplate, avoid ironing over sharp objects like zippers and do not place the iron on rough surfaces such as metal iron supports.

The self-cleaning feature is crucial for internal maintenance, removing scale and impurities from inside the soleplate. It is recommended to use this feature every 10-15 days. To perform self-cleaning, fill the water tank to the maximum level and set the steam control switch to "OFF." Set the temperature control dial to the maximum and wait for the light to turn green. Then, unplug the iron from the socket and hold it horizontally over a sink. Press and hold the self-cleaning button until all the boiling water, steam, impurities, and scale have been expelled.

For water usage, PurSteam irons are designed for regular tap water (up to 12 grains of hardness). If the water is harder, it is recommended to mix half tap water with half distilled water to reduce hardness, or to use inexpensive bottled spring water. It is important never to use 100% pure distilled water, as this can cause the iron to spit and leak. Water containing additives like starch, perfume, or fabric conditioner should also be avoided, as these can affect steam properties and form deposits that may stain laundry. Descaling liquids are not necessary and should not be used.

When storing the iron, slide the steam control switch entirely to the left and turn the temperature control dial to "MIN." Disconnect the power cord and allow the soleplate to cool down. Empty the water tank into a sink by turning the iron upside down and gently shaking it. Finally, roll up the power cord around the iron and always store it in an upright position.
