Overview

This document describes the QFX Model: TURN-101, a suitcase Bluetooth turntable with USB-to-PC connection.

Function Description:

The QFX TURN-101 is a portable turntable designed for playing vinyl records and connecting to external audio devices via Bluetooth or auxiliary input. It also features a USB-to-PC connection for recording vinyl to a computer. The device includes built-in speakers for direct playback and RCA output jacks for connecting to an external Hi-Fi/amplifier system.

Usage Features:

Turntable Operation:

  • Power On/Off: Rotate the POWER/VOLUME ON/OFF SWITCH (#12) clockwise to turn on the system; the POWER INDICATOR (#13) will light up.
  • Record Playback: Place a record on the turntable platter, set the appropriate 45 RPM adaptor if needed, remove the white plastic needle cover, and lift the tone arm using the lift lever. Select the desired speed (33-1/3, 45, or 78 rpm) using the speed control knob (#7). Gently move the tone arm towards the record and lower it.
  • Auto-Stop Function: The turntable may have an auto-stop area outside the preset limit. If this occurs, set the AUTO-STOP SWITCH (#9) to the "OFF" position. This allows the record to play to the end. To stop the turntable from spinning, manually raise the tone arm and place it back in the rest.
  • Stylus Protection: Always remove the stylus protector before use and ensure the tone arm is unlocked and free to move. Lock the tone arm in place again when not in use.

Bluetooth Operation:

  • Pairing: Rotate the POWER/VOLUME knob clockwise to turn on the device. Rotate the FUNCTION KNOB to the BT (Bluetooth) position; the blue LED light will begin to flash.
  • Connection: Turn on Bluetooth on your external device, search for and select "TURN-101" to pair. Once connected, the blue LED light will stop flashing.
  • Volume Control: Adjust the sound level using the VOLUME CONTROL KNOB.

Auxiliary Input:

  • Connection: Use a 3.5 mm stereo audio cable (not included) to connect an external audio device (MP3 players, CD players, iPods) to the LINE IN JACK (#6) on the turntable.
  • Playback: Rotate the POWER/VOLUME knob clockwise to turn on the device. Rotate the FUNCTION SELECTOR (#8) to the LINE IN position; the Power and Function LED 'Purple' light indicator will light up.
  • Volume Control: Control the volume level through the main unit.

Line Out Connection:

  • External System Connection: Connect the RCA LINE OUT JACKS (#18) to the auxiliary input jacks of an external Hi-Fi / AMPLIFIER system using RCA cables (not included).

Connecting to a Computer for Recording (using Audacity software):

  • Software Installation: Install the "AUDACITY" recording software from the included CD or download it from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/.
  • USB Connection: Connect the turntable to your computer using the USB cable. The computer will automatically detect and install USB drivers.
  • Recording Setup: In Audacity, set "USB PnP Audio Device" as the default recording device. Adjust input and output volumes to avoid distortion.
  • Recording Process: Use the record button in Audacity to start recording. The left and right audio tracks will appear on the screen.
  • Exporting Files: Export recorded music to WAV or MP3 format. For MP3 export, the LAME encoder is required, which can be installed from the provided CD or downloaded from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/.

Built-in Battery Charging:

  • When the AC-DC adaptor is plugged in, the built-in battery LED indicator will light up in red. It will turn off once the battery is fully charged.

Maintenance Features:

General Care:

  • Cleaning: The unit's finish can be cleaned with a dust cloth. For plastic parts, use caution when cleaning. For dusty cabinets, wipe with a soft, dry cloth; avoid wax or polish sprays. For dirty or smudged front panels, use a soft cloth slightly dampened with a mild soap and water solution. Avoid abrasive cloths or polishes.
  • Moisture: Never allow water or other liquids to get inside the unit.
  • Ventilation: Do not block any ventilation openings. Install according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Heat Sources: Do not install near radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other heat-producing apparatus.
  • Power Cord Protection: Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched.
  • Attachments/Accessories: Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
  • Cart Use: When using a cart, exercise caution to avoid tip-over injuries.
  • Power Disconnection: Unplug the apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
  • Servicing: Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel, especially if the apparatus is damaged, exposed to liquids/moisture, or dropped.
  • Water Exposure: This appliance should not be exposed to dripping or splashing water, and no liquid-filled objects (e.g., vases) should be placed on it.
  • Wall Outlet: Do not overload wall outlets; use only the indicated power source.

Troubleshooting Guide:

The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues:

  • No Power: Check if the unit is unplugged and connect it to the AC power supply.
  • No Sound: Adjust the volume (if turned down) and re-select the correct input source (if it doesn't match the playback source).
  • Distorted Sound: Relocate the unit if it's too close to a TV or similar appliance.
  • Unit Unresponsive: Remove and re-plug all power supplies after one minute.
  • Distorted Record Playback: Ensure the stylus is placed in the center of the record. If the stylus is damaged, replace it.

Environmental Disposal:

  • Do not dispose of electrical devices with ordinary waste.
  • Bring them to a collection point.
  • Some parts contained in these appliances may be hazardous to human and animal health, as well as the environment.
