Why is my Quantum 270-11AC3-134 Water Heater producing a shortage of hot water?
    • A
      Anthony PierceAug 7, 2025
If you're experiencing a shortage of hot water with your Quantum Water Heater, it could be due to a few reasons. The system might be undersized for your needs, requiring a re-size. An unexpected load or weather condition could also be the culprit; consider re-sizing if extra hot water draw is now part of the design, repair any leakage, or re-size with heat loss included in the design, or install a booster. Finally, the system may not be producing enough heat, so refer to Table A.3: items 2, 3 & 4.

Why Quantum Water Heater has no hot water but the compressor is running?
    • J
      Juan ThomasAug 14, 2025
If your Quantum Water Heater's compressor is running but there's no hot water, several factors could be responsible. It's possible the tank water was recently drawn off, and the unit has only recently started; if the water isn't heated in the expected time, investigate other potential causes. Low or no refrigerant could also be the issue; refer to Table A.2: Item 1. The compressor might not be pumping, in which case you should replace the compressor if it's faulty or adjust/replace the TX valve. Lastly, a frozen evaporator could be the cause; repair or replace the de-ice system or avoid running the unit in constant cold weather.

What to do if the thermal cut out trips off repeatedly on Quantum Water Heater?
    • E
      Evan JacksonAug 22, 2025
If your Quantum Water Heater's thermal cut-out trips repeatedly, it could be due to several reasons. A low refrigerant charge might be the cause, requiring you to top up the refrigerant or recharge the system. Repair any leaks, or if it's beyond repair, contact QUANTUM service. Conversely, a high refrigerant charge can also cause this issue, so the refrigerant charge should be corrected. Incorrect voltage and frequency can also lead to this problem, so rectify the improper power supply or shut off the system and report it to the client. If the compressor runs hot due to internal leakage, the compressor and filter should be replaced if faulty. Lastly, poor oil return to the compressor can cause this issue, so rectify any installation defects.

How to fix a Quantum 270-11AC3-134 Water Heater with no hot water and the compressor not running?
    • B
      burtonshawnOct 29, 2025
If your Quantum Water Heater isn't producing hot water and the compressor isn't running, several factors could be at play. First, check for a power failure. If the circuit breaker has tripped, there may be a line or wiring short circuit that needs fixing; if the compressor is short-circuited, it should be replaced. A faulty or incorrect capacitor can also cause this issue and should be replaced. In some cases, the compressor might be seized and require replacement. Also, the thermal cut-out (TCO) on the digital controller may have tripped; you can reset it by pressing the “SET” button on the controller. A faulty water thermostat can also be the cause, so check and replace it if necessary. Finally, the compressor might be cutting out due to the current overload protector; if this is the cas...
