Summary

Remove Old Carburetor

Disconnect Battery and Lines

Disconnect the negative battery terminal and remove air cleaner, PCV hose, and vacuum lines for safety.

Disconnect Fuel, Linkage, and Remove Carb

Remove fuel lines, linkage, choke wires, and then the carburetor from the intake manifold.

Installation of New Carburetor

Prepare and Mount Carburetor

Set old carb side-by-side, transfer linkage, install gasket, and mount the new carburetor.

Connect Linkage and Tighten Hold Downs

Attach linkage, check for interference, then tighten hold down nuts to final torque.

Install Vacuum Hoses

Connect PCV and power brake hoses to appropriate vacuum ports on the throttle body.

Starting the Engine

Connect Fuel Inlet and Choke Wire

Install fuel inlet fittings without Teflon tape and connect the electric choke wire.

Initial Engine Start and Idle Adjustments

Start engine, verify float level, adjust idle speed, and check choke operation.

Adjustments & Tuning

Choke Adjustments - Choke Indexing

Adjust electric choke cap by rotating clockwise (leans) or counter-clockwise (richens).

Fast Idle Speed Adjustment

Adjust the fast idle speed screw to set the engine RPM when the choke is engaged.
