CONSTRUCTION NOTES
GENERAL NOTES
This manual describes and illustrates the assembly of the Quicksilver SPRINT / SPORT aircraft with
the subassembly and installation of component parts in the sequential order of tasks to be
performed. Read through this manual thoroughly to familiarize yourself with the terminology, the
assembly drawings, and the detail breakdowns. A helper will be useful in a number of instances,
such as lifting the tail assembly into position, alignment or leveling of some items, inserting the
wing ribs, attaching the powerplant, adjusting the brakes, etc. Whenever possible, the assembly
illustrations are shown in the relative positions of the aircraft or subassembly during the
performance of the related sequences, such as nose down, wing inverted, or upright, unless stated
on the illustration. The builder will become familiar with the aircraft and its systems as well as
develop the skills to perform maintenance through the build process.
Assembly of the Quicksilver SPRINT / SPORT airframe can easily be accomplished in 40 hours for
the first time builder and considerably less for an experienced Quicksilver builder. However,
accuracy and thoroughness are factors more important than time spent constructing the aircraft.
Care and patience during assembly will be rewarded by better control response, higher reliability,
and greater confidence in the aircraft.
The assembly manual has been organized as a guide with the first time builder in mind. First part
of this manual shows discrete subassemblies that are generally independent of each other and
culminate in the performance of Final Assembly. Sections of the manual may be performed in a
different order than presented based on the particular requirements of the builder, for example:
time, space, experience, and available assistance.
PREPARATIONS
Before starting the assembly of your Quicksilver aircraft, it is imperative that you take the time to
inventory the entire kit. This will get you familiar with ALL the parts and their location. With two
people this is not a difficult task. Using the enclosed PACKING LIST SHEETS go thru each sheet
and verify all the components by notating the items on the Packing List.
Gather the required tools. Refer to 'BASIC TOOLS REQUIRED FOR ASSEMBLY' at the end of this
section. While PRE-READING the Assembly Manual you will have an idea on the assembly flow and
how the tools will be utilized.
Consider the space required for assembly and the amount of space that will be available after each
section is complete. A clean workplace will help ensure fabric covers and other parts remain clean
and free from damage during assembly. Organizing tools and the kit before beginning work will
payoff during the build by decreasing the time spent hunting for parts and tools.
A 4’ X 8’ work table should be clean and used for component assembly. Put a clean blanket on the
table when assembling fabric covered components. A separate table is used for tools and supplies.
Each Blister Pak Hardware board is numbered in the lower right hand corner. They should be
arranged in numerical order. All items on EACH Blister board are in numerical order.
IMPORTANT Only cut off from the boards the exact number of parts required. A slit on top of the
packs of washers and nuts will prevent those items from migrating all over the work area.
