10 - Maintenance
(*note 7 mod. hi)
During the maintenance operations wear protective gloves; for the lubrification/greasing
operations always wear nitrile gloves and protective glasses.
If the maintenance is made on a raised plane (for example on a workbench), always wear safety
shoes.
All the maintenance work must be performed with the two-wheel tractor off and the key off.
Steps to be taken to keep the implement in working condition:
- Before each use of the implement:
1. Proceed with a visual inspect of the implement.. Verify the integrity and the correct
attachment of the components (mechanical parts and guards). Do not use the implement if
you notice an oil leak from the gear body of the miller or from the hydraulic circuit and/or if you
note that parts of the implement are broken or worn, missing or not properly fastened.
2. Check that the hoes are intact and well fixed. If during work the hoes should accidentally
break, stop work immediately and replace them.
3. Check the distance of the cleaning roller bar from the roller. The roller must turn freely without
blocking. If the cleaning roller bar is too close to the roller, loosen the fixing bolts (Fig. 12)
adjust the cleaning roller bar distance and tighten the bolts again.
- Periodically / early in the season of the implement's use:
1. Grease the roll adjuster* using the appropriate grease gun (Fig. 13 Ref. A).
2. Check the level of the lubricant in the gear tank* (main body of the implement) using the
appropriate cap located on the tank (Fig. 13 Ref. B). The level of the lubricant must cover the
gears.
3. Grease* the special tightening screws of the scraper (Fig. 13 Ref. C).
4. Grease* the flange using the appropriate greaser (Fig. 13 Ref. D).
5. Checking and replacing the hoes: see section 11, p. 22.
For cleaning the implement and the seeder unit read paragraph 12 on page 24.
Any intervention for breakage and damage must be performed by personnel skilled in maintenance of
mechanical agricultural equipment. In this case, contact your dealer or R2 technicians directly.
Use only original R2 spare parts.
After finishing the lubrification/greasing operations, clean the residual of lubricant left on the floor.
*For the types of lubricants used, see the table in section 3, p. 8).
