Coaster Hub
Coaster Hub Brakes are commonly fitted in the
rear wheel of many BMX style and other children’s
bicycles. They are very reliable and easy to
operate; the rider simply applies backward pedal
pressure to activate. The rider can then “coast”
without pedalling if desired.
Coaster hub brakes come in several different
models. Regardless of which style is fitted to
your bicycle, only minimal maintenance is required
by the rider. The coaster hub sprocket should
be kept clean and lubricated whenever the chain
is oiled.
Any adjustments or replacements are best
handled by a professional bicycle mechanic since
the coaster hub’s internal mechanisms are very
complex.
