Overview

This document is the user's manual for the RAIDER RD-GBC14 gasoline brush cutter. It provides instructions for safe operation, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance in multiple languages.

Function Description

The RAIDER RD-GBC14 gasoline brush cutter is designed and constructed in accordance with European Union norms and rules for safety and environmental protection. Its primary purpose is for mowing grass. The machine consists mainly of a steel housing, an aluminum guide tube with a drive shaft, handles, rotating parts, and a single-cylinder, air-cooled two-stroke engine. The engine features a chrome-plated cylinder for enhanced durability and a heavy-duty clutch for optimal power transfer, making it suitable for professional users due to its high performance and fuel efficiency.

Usage Features

Safety Precautions: Before operating the brush cutter, users must wear safety goggles, earmuffs, protective gloves, and safety shoes with reinforced soles. It is crucial to read the entire instruction manual carefully. Maintain a safe distance of at least 15 meters from other people and animals during operation. Never touch solid objects while mowing. Do not modify the cutting knife in any way.

Preparation before Starting:

  1. Fuel Mixture: Use unleaded gasoline with an octane number of 95, mixed with high-quality two-stroke oil at a ratio of 25:1 (40 ml oil per 1 liter of gasoline). Stir the mixture thoroughly before pouring it into the fuel tank.
  2. Air Filter Check: Regularly inspect and clean the air filter to prevent carburettor malfunctions and engine wear. Do not operate the engine without an air filter.
  3. Assembly: Connect the engine to the pipe using four screws. Assemble the handles, adjust their height for an optimal working position, and tighten the bolts. Install the cutting attachment guard (6).
  4. Cutting Attachment Installation:
    • Metal Blade: Ensure the support flange aligns correctly with the central hole of the blade. Place the blade, support cup, and support flange on the output shaft. Tighten the nut to a torque of 35-50 Nm using a 19mm socket spanner. The shaft has a left-hand thread. Use the locking pin (Ø6) to secure the shaft during tightening.
    • Trimmer Head: Screw the trimmer head onto the output shaft (left-hand thread). If the cord length is insufficient, press the button in the middle of the trimmer head and pull the cord to the desired length. The knife on the protective cap will automatically cut excess cord if it exceeds the cap's diameter.
  5. Shoulder Strap Adjustment: Adjust the shoulder strap for a comfortable working position, ensuring the cutting attachment is parallel to the ground. The optimized shaft length and 35-degree bevel gear facilitate parallel cutting.

Starting the Engine:

  1. Switch the ignition key to the "I" (starting) position.
  2. If the engine is cold or the ambient temperature is low, set the choke control to the choke position.
  3. When starting, be prepared for a kickback from the recoil starter. Maintain a proper and stable stance.
  4. Gently pull the hand starter until resistance is felt, then pull sharply.
  5. WARNING: Do not allow the starter rope to snap back sharply into the engine to prevent damage.
  6. After starting, gradually increase the speed using the throttle lever.

Working with the Brush Cutter:

  1. Always hold the machine with both hands.
  2. Mow grass with a sideways, pendulum-like motion. The movement from right to left is the clearing stroke, and from left to right is the return stroke.
  3. Work rhythmically, standing firmly with feet apart. Move forward after the return stroke.
  4. Avoid passing over previously cut material during the return stroke. Operate at full throttle to reduce the risk of material wrapping around the blade.
  5. Never operate the brush cutter without the safety guard (6) installed.
  6. Do not use the brush cutter to cut higher than 76 cm above the ground.

Stopping the Engine:

  1. Reduce engine speed by releasing the throttle lever.
  2. Allow the engine to run for approximately 30 seconds.
  3. Switch the ignition key to the "0" (Stop) position.
  4. Always collect grass clippings after stopping the engine and wait for the blade to stop rotating completely.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is essential for optimal performance and extended lifespan. Always switch off the engine and remove the spark plug cable before performing any maintenance work.

Periodic Checks and Maintenance Schedule:

Element to Check Each time before starting Once per month or after 12 hours of work Once per month or after 50 hours of work Once per month or after 100 hours of work Once per month or after 300 hours of work
Check the air filter
Clean the air filter
Check the spark plug
Replace gasoline hose Every two years

Detailed Maintenance Instructions:

  1. Air Filter Cleaning: Remove the air filter and clean it with a solvent. Allow it to dry completely. Do not use flammable liquids for cleaning. Reinstall the filter once clean.
  2. Spark Plug Maintenance: The recommended spark plug types are Champion RCJ7Y, NGK BPMR7A, or NHSP LD L8RTF. Ensure the spark plug has an adequate gap between electrodes and is free of deposits. Remove the spark plug cap by pulling the handle. Unscrew the spark plug using a wrench. Visually inspect the spark plug for wear, damage, or cracked insulation. Replace if necessary. Clean the spark plug with a copper wire brush if it's in good condition. When installing a new spark plug, tighten it an additional 1/2 turn after it seats, ensuring it is properly tightened to prevent overheating.
  3. General Maintenance:
    • Allow the engine and manifold to cool before touching hot surfaces.
    • Wear protective gloves to avoid cuts from sharp elements.
    • Clean any grass stuck to the blade and lubricate it with grease.
    • Drain all fuel from the engine if storing the brush cutter for more than a month.
    • Ensure all ventilation openings for engine cooling are clean and free.
    • All nuts and bolts must be securely tightened. Replace worn parts promptly.

Transportation and Storage:

  1. Allow the engine to cool before transporting to avoid fire hazards.
  2. Store the machine in a dry and dust-free place.
  3. Cover the brush cutter to protect it from dust.
  4. Any necessary repairs should be performed by qualified specialists at RAIDER service centers using only original spare parts to ensure safe operation.
