The RampartIC M1128-RTV V2 Radiation Shield is a protective device designed to safeguard users from radiation exposure during fluoroscopic medical procedures. It is intended for indoor use and storage only, specifically in clinical or hospital surgical suites.
Function Description:
The M1128 radiation shield provides 1 mm lead-equivalent protection with adjustable acrylic panels that rotate smoothly around a central mast. This allows for customized protection in various approach positions, including bilateral radial, bilateral femoral, and bilateral pedal. Pliable radiation shielding curtains, with 0.5 mm lead-equivalent protection, attach to the bottom of the panels and conform to patient body shapes, extending the protective coverage area. A Center Mast Accessory (CMA) assembly provides height-adjustable articulating radiation protection between the radial and lower extremity panels. The device's legs are adjustable to fit most intervention procedure tables.

Usage Features:
- Handset Controller: Controls the simultaneous up and down movement of the panels and curtains. Top buttons raise and lower both radial and lower extremity panels, while bottom buttons raise and lower only the lower extremity panel. The controller has a magnet on the back for convenient placement.
- Adjustable Panels: Panels can be adjusted vertically to adapt to table and physician height. The lower extremity panel can open a maximum of 210 degrees.
- Rotation Locks: Two rotation locks (upper and lower) control the movement of the lower extremity and radial panels and curtains.
- Leg Configuration: Four configurable base legs adjust to various positions, including a minimal footprint for Transit Mode or Storage. Leg locks prevent legs from changing positions during transit.
- Casters: Industrial-grade, smooth-rolling, lockable casters facilitate movement and positioning.
- Sterile Environment: Sterile disposable drapes are placed over each individual panel and attached curtain assembly to maintain sterility. The panels and curtains remain sterile when properly draped.
- Transit Mode: A specific configuration for safe and efficient movement between rooms. In Transit Mode, the mast is collapsed to the lowest position, panels and curtains are folded together and locked forward between legs 1 and 4, and all four legs are positioned for transit with leg locks engaged. This makes the M1128 narrow enough to fit through standard hospital doorways.
- Charging: The M1128 must be fully charged at least once every 12 months, requiring a minimum of 10 hours for a full charge. It is recommended to keep the device plugged in when not in use to maintain a full charge. Always unplug prior to transport.
- Under & Above Table Lower Body Protection: RampartIC recommends using a below-table lead-equivalent protective shield (e.g., RampartIC L148 table-mounted shield) in conjunction with the M1128 for comprehensive radiation protection (98% to 99.9% reduction) for the physician and lab technician.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: The M1128 should be cleaned by wiping with a soft cloth and a neutral pH enzymatic detergent (typically pH 6-8) diluted in water. Abrasive cleaners, alcohol wipes, certain disinfectants, and harsh solvents should be avoided as they can permanently damage acrylic panels and curtains. RampartIC cleaning cloths are available for purchase.
- Disinfection: Disinfection can be performed using 70% or less isopropyl alcohol (drying panels and curtains immediately after application), Sani-HyPerCide® Germicidal Disposable Wipes, Super Sani-Cloth® Germicidal Disposable Wipes, or CaviWipes® 2.0 Disinfecting Wipes. Always follow manufacturer's safety precautions and use directions. Panel discoloration may occur over time with the use of disinfecting products.
- Preventative Inspection: An annual preventative maintenance inspection by a RampartIC authorized representative is recommended. This includes checking that all parts are fastened tightly, casters roll smoothly, support legs adjust easily, and there are no cracks or damage to panels and curtains. Actuators should function well.
- Parts and Accessories: Available accessories include the M1128 Drape Kit, M1128 User and Installation Guide, M1128 Antifatigue Mat, and M1128 Rampart Cleaning Cloth.
- Disposal: The M1128 system contains lead-equivalent panels, lead-equivalent curtains, rare earth magnets, and a rechargeable battery. The system and all components should be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner per local, state, and Federal laws. Rare-earth magnets should be kept away from individuals with pacemakers and from magnetic media.
