Overview

The QuickJack is a portable car jack support system designed for servicing light-duty passenger or motorsport vehicles. It is offered in two models, the BL-3500 and BL-5000, with varying lifting capacities and dimensions.

Function Description:

The QuickJack system provides a stable and elevated platform for vehicle maintenance and repair. It consists of two jack frames, a power unit, and connecting hoses. The system uses hydraulic cylinders to lift vehicles, and safety lock bars ensure the vehicle remains securely elevated. Air bottle cylinders are integrated into the frames to assist with lifting and lowering. The QuickJack is designed for use on dry, flat, level, and compact surfaces with a minimum compressive strength of 500 PSI.

Usage Features:

The QuickJack is designed for ease of installation and operation.

  • Site Selection: Requires a dry, flat, level, and compact floor with a minimum compressive strength of 500 PSI. The area should be free of overhead obstructions.
  • Unpacking and Assembly: The QuickJack is shipped in two boxes. Installation involves removing shipping plugs, installing 90° O-ring fittings and air inflation valves on the hydraulic cylinders, and assembling the power unit to its carrier.
  • Pressurizing Air Bottle Cylinders: Each air bottle cylinder must be inflated to 50-PSI with the lift frames in the fully lowered position. Dust caps should be replaced to retain air.
  • Filling Power Unit Reservoir: The reservoir needs to be filled with approximately 2 quarts of automatic transmission fluid. A clean funnel is essential to prevent contamination.
  • Preparing Hoses: Protective caps are removed from hose fittings, and Teflon tape is applied to pipe threads (not O-ring sides) before installing quick-connect fittings. Short Leader Hoses are then connected to the hydraulic cylinders and routed to avoid pinch points.
  • Jack Preparation: The QuickJack frames are placed on a stable floor with lock bars positioned outwards. Proper tension on safety lock bar retaining nuts is checked. Quick-connect fittings are inspected for damage and cleaned before connecting the twin hose assembly to the power unit and the short leader hoses to the hydraulic cylinders.
  • Power Unit Connection: AC power units connect to a 110-volt source, while DC power units connect to a 12-volt negative and positive source.
  • Bleeding the Cylinders: If the jack frames raise and lower unevenly, air needs to be bled from the hydraulic system by raising the QuickJack to half lifting height and slightly loosening the bleeder screw until oil exits without bubbles.
  • Operation: The system can be used in two methods: "INSIDE OUT" (frames positioned adjacent for vehicle roll-over) or "OUTSIDE IN" (frames positioned wide for vehicle entry). Rubber Lift Blocks must be placed in receiver trays at the vehicle's factory-recommended jacking points, ensuring the vehicle's center of balance is midway between the blocks and centered over the frames.
  • Raising and Lowering: The UP button on the pendant control raises the vehicle. Safety lock bars must be engaged before working under the vehicle. To lower, the UP button is pressed to clear the lock bars, then the lock bars are stowed, and the DOWN button is pressed to fully lower the frames.
  • Safety: Always ensure QuickJack frames are parallel within 2" and aligned evenly. DO NOT drive or ride vehicles over jack frames. DO NOT work under an elevated vehicle without engaging safety lock bars and using properly rated vehicle jack stands.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the QuickJack's performance and longevity.

  • General: Keep bolts tight, lift components clean, and replace faulty parts promptly.
  • Daily: Perform a visual inspection of all moving parts for wear, check safety locks for proper operation, and inspect lift pads for damage.
  • Weekly: Check all bolts and pins for proper mounting.
  • Monthly: Lubricate all hinge points and check for excessive wear.
  • Semi-Monthly: Check the fluid level of the power unit and refill with automatic transmission fluid as needed.
  • Decals: Replace any unreadable or missing caution, warning, or safety-related decals.

The QuickJack is designed with safety in mind, but proper training and thoughtful operation are essential to prevent injury or death. Users must read and understand the entire manual before installation and operation.
