Overview

The Penta Crux is a professional lighting fixture designed for mobile entertainers and various event settings, including theaters, bars, and other entertainment industry venues. It is engineered to provide versatile and high-quality lighting effects, with a strong emphasis on ease of use, portability, and advanced control options.

Function Description

The primary function of the Penta Crux is to produce rich and vibrant colors, as well as pastels, using RGBAW (Red, Green, Blue, Amber, White) LED chips. This color mixing capability allows for a wide spectrum of hues and helps to nearly eliminate multicolored shadows, resulting in clean and impactful lighting. The fixture can be used as an uplight, providing ambient or accent lighting for events.

A key feature of the Penta Crux is its integrated rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which eliminates the need for constant power connections, generators, or battery backups. This makes the device highly portable and ideal for setups where power outlets are scarce or inconvenient. The built-in battery also includes discharge protection to extend its lifespan.

For control, the Penta Crux incorporates a 2.4 GHz wireless DMX receiver, enabling wireless operation and synchronization with other fixtures. This wireless capability significantly reduces setup and tear-down time by removing the need for DMX or power cables, streamlining the overall event production process. Users can control up to 20 fixtures wirelessly via DMX.

The device supports various operational modes, including DMX control, stand-alone operation, sound-active mode, auto programs, and static mode. These options provide flexibility for different event requirements and user preferences. In stand-alone mode, the fixture offers built-in shows with random, preset colors, or variable fade effects, triggered by music or automatically.

The Penta Crux also includes several dynamic effects to enhance light shows. These include adjustable electronic strobe and dimmer effects, as well as sectional, eye-catching chase effects that can be controlled wirelessly via DMX. Users can also create custom color mixes to suit specific themes or moods.

Usage Features

The Penta Crux is designed for straightforward setup and operation. Its compact design allows it to fit easily inside truss sticks or be used freestanding. The preinstalled mounting surface facilitates the attachment of clamps for secure rigging, with Rasha Professional offering a line of compatible mounting clamps. For safety, it is recommended to use at least one mounting point per product and always secure the fixture with a safety cable when hanging.

The control panel features a user-friendly display and touch/encoder buttons for navigation and setting adjustments. The display provides information on the fixture's address, operational modes, test mode status, display options (including screen rotation), advanced settings, current mode, DMX address, and fixture information.

Users can easily configure the DMX address and select between 6-channel or 11-channel DMX personalities, depending on the desired level of control. The device also supports master/slave, sync, or IR modes for coordinated light shows with multiple fixtures. Color presets, fade speed, flash speed, and auto speed settings are available for quick adjustments.

For custom color creation, the Penta Crux allows users to set values for up to five custom colors. Dimmer and blackout functions provide control over light intensity and instant light cutoff. An option to turn off the LED display is available for discreet operation, and the display can be inverted if needed. Test mode and firmware version information are also accessible through the menu.

The power supply is auto-ranging, accepting input voltages from 100 to 240 VAC at 50/60 Hz, making it suitable for international use. The product comes with a power input cord terminated with an IEC power connector and an Edison plug (for the U.S. market), with instructions provided for wiring a new plug if necessary. Power linking is supported, allowing up to 10 fixtures at 110V or 20 fixtures at 220V to be linked for charging purposes.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance of the Penta Crux is designed to be simple and user-friendly. The fuse replacement process involves disconnecting power, lifting the fuse holder cap with a flat-head screwdriver, removing the blown fuse, and replacing it with a new fuse of the same type and rating (T 5 A). It is crucial to disconnect the power cord before replacing a fuse and always use a fuse of the correct type and rating.

The device's lifespan is enhanced by built-in discharge protection for the battery. To further improve its lifespan and prevent unnecessary wear, it is recommended to completely disconnect the product from power via a breaker or by unplugging it during periods of non-use.

For optimal performance and longevity, the product should be mounted in a safe position with adequate room for ventilation, configuration, and maintenance. It should be kept away from flammable materials, rain, high humidity, extreme temperature changes, or restricted ventilation. The maximum ambient temperature for operation is 50°C (122°F), and the minimum is 0°C (32°F). The device uses two low-noise fans for cooling and aluminum heating panels for heat control.

In case of issues, Rasha Professional provides support through its website, where users can download manuals, information on sizing circuit breakers, and the DMX Handbook. For returns, a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number is required, obtained by logging into an account on the Rasha Professional website. The product must be sent prepaid in its original box with all original packing and accessories, and the RMA number must be clearly labeled on the package. Double-boxing is recommended to prevent shipping damage.
