Why is my Rato R5500 starting difficult?
- CChris BrockAug 18, 2025
A difficult start for your Rato Portable Generator may be due to several fuel system issues. Ensure the fuel tank is full and the fuel cock is open. Check for a clogged air vent in the fuel filler cap and clear it if necessary. Inspect for an improperly adjusted or clogged main oil flow hole, readjust or clean it. Other potential causes include a needle valve that isn't closing properly or is clogged, a damaged or sticking float, fuel that is too filthy or deteriorated, water in the fuel, too much fuel in the engine, or using the wrong fuel brand. Drain extra fuel and dry the spark plug electrodes if there's too much fuel. Replace fuel if it is filthy, deteriorated, or contains water. Select the proper fuel brand corresponding with the requirements.
