Overview

The ReBuilder® 300 is a prescription device intended for the symptomatic relief of chronic intractable pain, and for EMS/TENS applications including relaxation of muscle spasms, prevention or retardation of disuse atrophy, increasing local blood circulation, muscle re-education, immediate post-surgical stimulation of calf muscles to prevent venous thrombosis, maintaining or increasing range of motion, and post-traumatic and post-surgical pain relief. It is registered and cleared by the FDA since 1988 under K874085 and K882980.

Technical Specifications

The ReBuilder® 300 unit is powered by a pre-installed 9-volt battery. The battery is located in the back of the unit and should be replaced approximately every 30 days, depending on usage. The device features an input jack for lead wires, a power indicator light, and a power & intensity switch. The power indicator light turns off when the unit is off and illuminates green when on. The intensity switch allows users to adjust the level of stimulation from "off" to "8".

Usage Features

The ReBuilder® 300 Kit includes:

  • One ReBuilder® 300 Unit
  • One lead wire
  • One set of adhesive stimulating pads
  • A protective travel case

Operating the ReBuilder®: The ReBuilder® can operate one set of lead wires and one pair of pads. These adhesive pads can be used to treat various areas such as the feet, hands, back, knees, hips, or shoulders. It's important to note that only one area can be treated at a time.

Standard Treatment Protocol:

  1. Connect the lead wire to the input jack.
  2. Connect two adhesive pads to the lead wire.
  3. Place one adhesive pad on the ball of each foot or the affected area.
  4. Turn the ReBuilder® on and slowly increase the intensity until a fairly strong tingling sensation and slight calf muscle activity are felt.
  5. Reduce the intensity slightly until it is gentle enough to allow sleep.
  6. Treat twice daily for 30 minutes, with a minimum of 6-8 hours between treatments.
  • Note: Pulsations in the calf muscle at higher intensity are normal. If this causes sore or tired legs, refer to the troubleshooting guide.

Gentle Start Treatment Protocol:

  1. Turn the ReBuilder® unit on just until it "clicks" to the "1" intensity setting.
  2. Gradually increase the intensity until impulses are barely noticeable.
  3. Use this setting for the first 2-3 days to allow nerves to acclimate.
  4. After a few days, gently increase the intensity to a level where impulses are felt, but still gentle enough to allow sleep.
  5. Treat twice daily with 6-8 hours between treatments. Sensitivity levels may change as the body adjusts, which is normal.

Using the Adhesive Pads:

  • Ensure the ReBuilder® is turned off before connecting lead wires and pads.
  • Place one self-adhesive pad on the bottom of each foot or the affected area.
  • Position pads on the ball of each foot. Placing lead wires between the toes can help secure electrodes.
  • Experiment with different positions on the feet, ankles, or other body parts to find the most effective placement for relief.
  • When using pads on other parts of the body (back, shoulders, arms, thighs, elbows, hips), ensure approximately 4-6 inches or more space between them.
  • Cleanse the skin with rubbing alcohol before applying pads to remove body oil or lotion.
  • Note: Two pads must be used for the ReBuilder® signal to work on other body parts.

Replacing Adhesive Pads:

  1. To remove worn pads, grip the plastic end of the black lead wire and the plastic end of the adhesive pad, then pull apart with a slight twisting motion.
  2. Dispose of worn pads.
  3. Insert the metal probe from the black lead wire into the plastic connection on the end of a new adhesive pad, ensuring it is pushed all the way in.

Maintenance Features

ReBuilder Unit Care:

  • The ReBuilder® has an automatic timer that turns off stimulation between 28 and 32 minutes.
  • Always turn the intensity knob completely "off" after each use.
  • If the unit has difficulty turning on, ensure the knob is turned off and remains off for at least 1 minute to allow the timer to reset.

Battery Care:

  • The pre-installed 9-volt battery typically lasts 30 days with two 30-minute treatments per day at medium intensity.
  • Battery life varies based on usage.
  • Always turn the ReBuilder® off manually with the knob after the session times out.

Adhesive Pad Care:

  • Properly cared for, self-adhesive stimulating pads can last for many uses.
  • Ensure skin is clean and dry before application; cleaning with an alcohol swab helps prolong pad life.
  • Replace pads onto the protective plastic sheet after each use and store in a cool, dry location.
  • When pads become worn and less sticky, lightly moistening the skin before placement can rejuvenate the adhesive for better contact.

Troubleshooting & Treatment Questions

  • Worsening symptoms after treatment: This indicates increased nerve activity. Discontinue use for 1-2 days until symptoms return to baseline. Resume treatment at a lower intensity or reduce treatment time by 5-10 minutes if already at intensity #1.
  • Tired arms/hands/legs/feet: This is normal due to muscle stimulation. If problematic, stop treatment for 1-2 days, then return at a lower intensity.
  • No sensation from treatment: Many people with numbness may not feel sensation until higher intensity settings. The ReBuilder® is still working to repair nerves.
  • Decreased sensation during treatment: Nerves acclimate to the sensation, leading to reduced feeling. This is normal, and there's no need to continuously increase intensity.
  • Reaching highest intensity: There is no goal to reach the highest setting. Comfort determines the appropriate intensity.
  • Light flashes but no stimulation: Replace the battery. If the problem persists, the lead wire or conductive garments (if used) may need replacement. Contact customer support if the issue continues.
  • Using treatment more than twice a day: Yes, but avoid irritating symptoms or tiring limbs. Generally, no more than two treatments are suggested. If a third treatment is attempted, start with 15 minutes and gradually increase if the body responds well.
  • Time to see results: Results vary; some see immediate effects, while others may take a few weeks.
  • ReBuilder® not turning on: Replace the battery. If the problem persists, contact customer support.
  • ReBuilder® stops working during session: An internal timer automatically turns off stimulation after 28-32 minutes to prevent overstimulation.
  • Needing to turn up intensity higher and higher: Check the battery. Batteries typically last 30-45 days. A flashing power indicator doesn't mean the battery is strong; it may have weakened, reducing stimulation.
  • Feeling stimulation more in one foot/hand: This is normal, even with healthy nerves. For neuropathy, nerve function differences can increase this. The ReBuilder® is designed to produce a stronger signal on one side for better outcomes. Try switching conductive rubber pads in a footbath, reversing socks, or inverting FootPads.

Precautions & Information

  • Do not place electrodes on the neck.
  • Many users with severe numbness may not feel stimulation initially, but will over time.
  • Allow 30 days for results; symptoms often resolve gradually.
  • Even without a felt pulse, the ReBuilder® still treats nerves and muscles.
  • ReBuilder® Medical does not provide medical advice; consult a physician for diagnosis.

Contraindications

Use of the ReBuilder® is contraindicated for:

  • Individuals with pacemakers or any other implanted electrical medical devices.
  • Pregnant women.
  • Children under 18 years of age.
  • Use only under direct supervision of a physician or healthcare provider if any of the above conditions apply.
  • Do not use directly over an open wound.
  • Follow physician's advice for specific instructions.

Manufacturer Comments

Neuropathy pain and symptoms vary greatly. Not all users will have the same experience or results. Use should be based on comfort and experience, and may not exactly match the daily outline in the booklet. It is normal to take 1-2 days off treatment occasionally, and symptoms/sensations may fluctuate. The manufacturer notes that tens of thousands of users have found relief.
