Overview

The RedKite Savanna Car Seat is a "Universal" child restraint system designed for infants up to 13kg (Group 0+), conforming to European standard ECE R44.04. This car seat is intended for use in vehicles equipped with 3-point static or 3-point retractor safety belts, approved to UN/ECE Regulation No. 16 or equivalent standards. It is crucial to note that this car seat is not suitable for vehicles with only a lap belt and must not be used in passenger seats equipped with airbags (SRS).

Function Description:

The Savanna Car Seat provides a safe and secure environment for infants during car travel. It is designed to be installed in a rearward-facing position only, which is considered the safest orientation for infants. The car seat features a 5-point harness system to secure the child, with adjustable shoulder straps and a buckle. It also includes a comfort pad and headrest pad for smaller infants (below 5kg), with only the headrest pad recommended for infants above 5kg. The car seat is equipped with a handle that can be adjusted into four positions:

  1. Rearward facing installed in the car: This position is specifically for when the car seat is installed in the vehicle.
  2. Straight up for carrying: For easy transport of the car seat with the infant.
  3. Clicked back to initiate the rocking feature: Allows the car seat to be used as a rocker outside the vehicle.
  4. Down to support baby for feeding and play: Provides a stable base for the infant when not in the car.

Important Safety Information and Usage Features:

  • Installation: The car seat must always be installed rearward-facing on seats without airbags. It should not be installed on backward-facing seats or seats arranged facing each other. The vehicle's 3-point seat belt is routed through designated lap belt guides and a guide hook at the back of the car seat. It is essential to ensure the seat belt is taut and not twisted, and the car seat is tightened down firmly on the upholstery.
  • Harness Adjustment: The shoulder straps of the harness must always be at the correct height for the child, with the child's shoulder below the slot for the harness straps. The harness can be loosened by pressing a lever under the seat cover and pulling the shoulder straps. To tighten, press down the adjuster and pull the adjustment strap until snug but not too tight or uncomfortable for the child. The buckle connectors click into place, and the harness should be checked for correct locking by pulling the shoulder straps upwards.
  • Child Safety: Never leave the child unattended in the safety seat, even when sleeping. The child should never be removed from the seat while the vehicle is in motion. The harness should always be used, even for transport outside the vehicle, to avoid the risk of falling. The harness straps should be snug to the child's body without constricting and checked for twists.
  • Product Integrity: Do not use the car seat if it shows signs of breakage, missing parts, or if it has been involved in an accident. Do not modify the product. The car seat should not be used after five years from its production date due to material aging.
  • Environmental Considerations: Car interiors can become very hot in direct sunlight; it is recommended to cover the child seat when not in use to prevent components from overheating. Never place the safety seat on raised, soft, or sloping surfaces to avoid falling risks.
  • Emergency Release: In an emergency, the child can be quickly released by pressing the red button on the harness buckle.
  • Canopy Fitting: The canopy clips push onto the frame just behind the handle.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cover Cleaning: The fabric cover can be hand washed at a maximum of 30°C. Do not wring, iron, bleach with chlorine, dry clean, use solvent-based stain removers, or tumble dry. The hood can be spot cleaned in situ with a mild detergent solution and air-dried.
  • General Maintenance: Cleaning and maintenance should only be carried out by adults.
  • Moving Parts: Keep all moving parts clean and lubricate them with a silicone-based spray if necessary.
  • Plastic Parts: Clean plastic parts periodically with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents or similar substances.
  • Fabric Parts: Brush fabric parts to remove dust.
  • Polystyrene Shock Absorbing Device: Do not clean this device with solvents or other similar products.
  • Protection: Protect the product from atmospheric agents (humidity, rain, snow). Extended exposure to sunshine can cause color changes. Store the product in a dry environment.
  • Seat Cleaning: The harness and plastic parts can be sponged with a very mild detergent and warm water. Do not use chemical cleansers, bleach, or corrosives on any part of the seat.

Important Warnings:

  • Incorrect installation can be dangerous.
  • Parents should not use this child restraint on a passenger seat equipped with an airbag.
  • Failure to follow instructions closely will put your child at risk.
  • Do not use installation methods different from those indicated.
  • Never lift the car seat by the hood.
  • The safety seat is not designed for extended periods of sleep and is not a substitute for a cot.
  • Do not use the safety seat without its fabric covering, which is an integral part of the safety system.
  • Do not use accessories not approved by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use the car safety seat if the child is able to remain seated alone (in the home).
  • Always check the seat fits properly in your car before purchasing.
