Mobile Home Installation:

Special requirements apply for mobile home installations:

  1. The stove must be permanently bolted to the floor using provided screws.
  2. A permanent outside air source for combustion is mandatory.
  3. The stove must be electrically grounded to the steel chassis of the mobile home.
  4. A listed double-wall connector chimney system, roof thimble, spark arrestor, and roof flashing kit suitable for mobile homes must be used.
  5. If the chimney exits the mobile home at 7ft (2130mm) or less above ground level, a guard or enclosure for the chimney up to 7ft (2130mm) is required.
  6. The chimney must attach directly to the room heater and extend at least 3ft (914mm) above the roof, and at least 2ft (610mm) above the highest elevation within 10ft (3048mm) of the chimney.
  7. The chimney system must comply with local requirements.
  8. Openings in a chimney guard must not permit the entrance of a 3/4" (19mm) diameter rod.
  9. The structural integrity of the mobile home roof, floor, walls, and ceiling must be maintained.
  10. Local building codes may apply.
  11. WARNING: DO NOT INSTALL IN A SLEEPING ROOM OF A MOBILE HOME.
  12. Silicone must be used to create an effective vapor barrier where the chimney or other components penetrate the exterior. The mobile home kit includes a bottom metal cover, flex, collar, mobile home box, square transition box, and screws. Installation involves securing the unit to the floor, installing the mobile home box between the firebox and pedestal, and connecting the outside air kit. The outside air damper should be fully opened when starting a fire to prevent smoke from entering the room.

Chimney and Connector Installation:

The stove can be connected to a lined masonry chimney or a listed factory-built chimney (ULC629 in Canada or UL-103HT in the USA). It is crucial not to connect it to a chimney serving another appliance. The chimney connector must be 6" diameter, 24 MSG Black/Blue steel, and should be as short and direct as possible. Aluminum or galvanized steel connectors are not suitable. Joints must be tight and fastened with sheet metal screws. WARNING: The chimney connector is for use only within the room, between the stove and ceiling/wall. Never use a chimney connector to pass through an attic, roof space, closet, or similar concealed space, or a floor or ceiling. An effective vapor barrier must be maintained where the chimney or component penetrates the exterior. Minimum clearances to combustibles must always be maintained. For residential close clearance and alcove installations, a listed double wall connector from the stove collar to the ceiling level is required. Increasing chimney height can improve draft.

Combustible Wall Chimney Connector Pass-Throughs:

Several methods are provided for passing the chimney connector through a combustible wall while maintaining required clearances:

  • Method A (12" [304.8 mm] Clearance): Construct a wall pass-through using a minimum 3.5" (89 mm) thick brick and a 5/8" (15.9 mm) minimum wall thickness clay liner. Maintain 12" (304.8 mm) of brick masonry between the clay liner and wall combustibles.
  • Method B (9" [228.6 mm] Clearance): Build a wall pass-through with a 9" (228.6 mm) air space between the outer wall of a listed, factory-built Solid-Pak chimney section (with 1" [25.4 mm] insulation) and wall combustibles. Use sheet metal supports.
  • Method C (6" [152.4 mm] Clearance): Construct a wall pass-through using a minimum 24 gage metal chimney connector and a 24 gage ventilated wall thimble with two 1" (25.4 mm) air channels. Maintain a 6" (152.4 mm) separation area with fiberglass insulation from the outer surface of the wall thimble to wall combustibles.
  • Method D (2" [50.8 mm] Clearance): Use a solid-pak listed factory-built chimney section (at least 12" [304 mm] long, with 1" [25.4 mm] insulation, and an inside diameter 6" [152.4 mm] larger than the chimney connector) as a pass-through for a minimum 24-gage single wall steel chimney connector. Maintain 1" (25.4 mm) spacing between the solid-pak section and the chimney connector using sheet metal support plates.

The minimum flue height at sea level is 12' straight. Additional vertical height is required to compensate for elbows and horizontal runs:

  • 45 deg. elbow: +1 ft.
  • 90 deg. elbow: +2 ft.
  • "T": +3 ft.
  • Each foot of horizontal run: +2 ft. An additional 4% overall height is added for every 1000' above sea level. WARNING: DO NOT INSTALL IN SLEEPING ROOM. CAUTION: The structural integrity of the mobile home floor, wall and ceiling/roof must be maintained.
